“You’re beautiful, you know that?”

She smiled, placing her hands on my chest above my heart. My heart that belonged to her. There was no way I’d jeopardize my relationship with my son if I weren’t crazy about her. If I weren’t absolutely certain that she wasitfor me.

“Do you want some champagne?” I asked.

“That sounds nice.”

I grabbed the bottle from inside and poured two glasses. When I returned to the deck, she was waving at someone in the distance.

“Showtime,” she murmured as I handed her a champagne flute.

Jude boarded first. He was smiling and laughing, but his steps were clipped, and his jaw tight.

“Where’s Chrissy?” Kendall whispered, scanning the group like I was.

“I don’t know. Maybe she had to ride separately.”

One of the crew members went down to meet Jude and the rest of our guests. Soon after, my son joined us on the top deck. His sunglasses shaded his eyes, but I could tell the moment I saw him that something was off.

“What’s wrong?” I asked when he immediately took a champagne flute offered to him by one of the crew. “Is Chrissy okay?”

“She isn’t coming.” He gulped down his glass. “We broke up.”

I watched Kendall out of the corner of my eye and tried not to let my panic show. “I’m sorry to hear that.”

He held his glass out to the crew member for a refill. “Don’t be. I’m not.”

I arched a brow but tried to otherwise remain expressionless. I could remember when he and Kendall had broken up. He’d been…upset. Down. Not angry.

“Where’s your lady love?” he asked, using the nickname he’d taken to calling her.

“Lady love? Ooh,” Jasper crooned, giving me a hug. “Who’s that?”

“Dad’s girlfriend.”

Jasper tilted his head to the side. “You have a girlfriend?”

Before I could even respond, Jude said, “Yeah. It’s pretty serious too.”

“What’s serious?” Nate asked, joining our group.Fuck me.“Hey, Knox.”

“Dad and his girlfriend.” I really wished Jude would stop making such a big deal of this.

“Well, damn.” Jasper clapped a hand on my back. “Can’t wait to meet the woman who’s captured your heart.” His gaze turned to Kendall, and I wanted so badly to tell Jasper he was looking at her. And that he better keep his eyes—and his dick—to himself because she was mine.

“You guys remember Kendall,” Jude said. “My ex.” He downed the rest of his champagne. “Ex-ex. Ex before my current ex? Whatever.”

When he wandered over to the bar and poured himself a glass of whiskey, Kendall flashed me a look of concern. I followed Jude, careful to keep my voice low. “Would you rather take the yacht out another weekend?”

“What?” He jerked his head back. “No. I’m sure we’ll have more fun without Chrissy.” His attention was directed at Kendall when he said it, and a knot formed in my stomach.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, I’m sure.” He glanced around. “So…where is she?”

“Oh. Uh—” I cleared my throat. “Something came up last minute.”

He draped his arm over my shoulder. “Then I guess we’re both flying solo this weekend. Let’s cast off.”
