He took a step forward but then stumbled. I placed my hand on his shoulder and said, “Perhaps it’s time we get you to bed.”

“No.” He reached for his glass, but I tugged him forward.

“Come on, Jude,” I said in a more forceful tone. “Time for bed.”

He grumbled but allowed me to escort him below deck to his room. Once he was safely in bed, I let out a sigh of relief. “Good night. Sleep well.”

He grabbed my neck and pulled me back down to him for a hug. “I love you, Dad.”

I smirked. “I love you too.”

“No, really. You’re the best. You’re always there for me. And you brought Kendall and me back together.”

I stilled.Wait. What?

“You brought her back into my life, and now I get to have a second chance.”

Fuuuck.I sure as hell hoped that was the alcohol talking.

I gave his shoulder a gentle squeeze. “I’m sure things will look different in the morning.”

CHAPTERTWENTY

Istared at the clock on my phone. It was early, but I’d given up on falling back to sleep. I’d tossed and turned all night. I’d been so consumed with thoughts about Jude’s potential reaction. And I missed the comfort of sleeping with Knox’s arms wrapped around me.

I wanted to go home. I wanted to go back to our bubble where Knox and I could be together. Where we were happy.

I didn’t know what to make of last night. Jude had been flirtatious. Complimentary.

I wanted to blame it on the alcohol and nostalgia, but his eyes had watched me, tracked me wherever I’d gone. I knew that look. I knew what he was thinking. And it scared me. Because I knew he wanted me.

I took a shower, my mind on the two men. After I finished getting ready, I headed upstairs to the deck where Santa Catalina Island was in view. We’d anchored near Catalina overnight, and I was looking forward to exploring the island. Or at least, I had been before.

Knox was sitting at the table, breakfast laid out before him. “Good morning.” His voice was deep and smooth, sending chills down my mostly bare body.

Even from behind his sunglasses I could feel his eyes appraising me. Blazing a trail of heat over my skin. I’d purposely chosen my neon-green bikini, and I knew we were both thinking of the night when he’d told me all the things he’d longed to do to me. All the times he’d imagined me on the yacht.

And now, here we were. I might be wearing the bikini and a white mesh cover-up from the night we’d met, but I felt as if I were naked. As if he could see right through me.

Before I headed for the buffet, he circled my wrist with his hand. “Mi cielo, are you trying to kill me?”

I smirked at him over my shoulder. “Just helping fulfill all your fantasies.” I sank my teeth into my lip.

He groaned, pressing on his cock. “I’m going to be hard all fucking day.”

He pulled me closer and smoothed his other hand down my side, over my hip, his expression one of longing.

“Knox.” I glanced toward the stairs. We were the first ones up, but I didn’t expect the quiet to last long.

He huffed and removed his hand. “I hate not being able to touch you.”

I leaned down so my lips hovered next to his ear. “Later, when we’re alone at home, you can touch me all you want.”

“I fully intend to,” he practically growled.

I helped myself to some food from the buffet. As soon as I took my seat, he rubbed his legs against mine. I smiled, grateful for his touch. For this man. Our relationship might be a secret, but I’d never felt more cherished or adored.

Knox and I ate our breakfast in companionable silence, and I could envision many mornings spent like this. It wasn’t about the yacht or the lifestyle; it was about him. About the way he made me feel.
