“These people are really awful,” I exclaim after the women have another fight and one actually pushes another.

“I know, right?” Ash says, staring at the screen, which is filled with women whose faces are made of melted plastic. “It’s such a train wreck. I love it.”

“Hey, trouble, let’s roll,” Aiden says from the doorway.

“Already?” I ask, even though they’ve been at the house for hours.

Ash rolls off the cushions she’s lying on and returns them to the couch. “What time is it?”

“Four-thirty.”

“Wow. How’d that happen? We’re not even drunk,” Ash says with a smirk.

“You’d better not be. Christ. Trick would kill me.”

“No, he wouldn’t,” Ash says, sauntering toward the doorway. “Scotty doesn’t sweat the small stuff.”

“I don’t know about that,” Aiden says. “Bye, Liv. See you tomorrow.”

I wave and follow them. Once they’re outside, I wave again before closing the door and locking it.

When we return to the kitchen Liam takes out pizza dough.

“Homemade pizza? Aiden and Ash should’ve stayed for dinner.”

“He said he couldn’t.”

“Is she dating him?”

“I hope not.”

“Why? They have such great chemistry.”

Liam brings out a blob of pizza dough and tosses some flour on it. “Ash’s dad died when she was three, so her older brother feels responsible for her. And up until he had his own kids, he called her ‘the baby.’ His nickname for her even now is something like Baby C. Baby T. I don’t know.” He shakes his head. “What I do know is that anyone who wants to date her had better clear it with him and then be very careful about the way things play out. Trick is not a guy whose bad side you want to get on.”

“Aiden’s so nice to her. I’m sure it would be all right. Also, it’s not like Aiden needs to worry about getting into a fight, right? I’m sure this Trick guy can’t be bigger than he is.”

Liam pours pizza sauce over the flattened dough. “Go in the fridge, baby girl, and get the toppings you want. There’s pepperoni, ham, peppers. And onions, figs…”

I grab cartons, jars, and plastic containers and set them on the counter for him. “I really liked her. If they were dating, we’d see her all the time.”

“Either way, you’ll see her around.”

“What aren’t you saying? Is there a reason I should hold off on inviting her over again?”

“No. Invite her anytime you want.”

“Okay, good.” I lean over the pizza and sprinkle goat cheese on it. “More sauce please.”

Liam’s hand slides under my dress and squeezes my ass. “Give me a kiss.”

I fold my hands together so I don’t get food on his shirt and then rise onto my toes to press a kiss on his mouth.

“Tonight you’re sleeping in my bed.” His grip on me tightens. “There are things I want to do that we need to be alone for.”

I shiver. “But I can bring him in afterward if he wakes up, right?”

“Yeah.” He kisses me again. “Add as much sauce as you want.”
