For that, I was more than glad, because I couldn’t see the crowd. That helped me not look for my ex, but all I had to do was lower my eyes a little and I saw Rick. His face beamed as he gazed up at me, proud, lustful and leaning forward, waiting for me to dance.

I closed my eyes when the music I’d chosen started over the speakers, and I felt it first in the center of my chest. My heart began to beat in time with the music, and that was possibly my favorite part of dancing. Even your heart got in on the dance.

When I started to move, I saw those scenes from my parents’ movies, pictured all of the elaborately dressed dancers, and saw the smiling, the winks, and flirty glances. That was all it took and I opened my eyes and started to flirt.

I rounded my hips, spinning around a couple times, then started moving my arms, my legs, feeling the rhythm in every muscle, in my blood, and as I danced, I felt Rick’s eyes on me, knew he was proud, he was aroused and the love he felt enveloped all of it.

I used the entire stage, moving to one side, flirting, then back and winked at Rick, getting a huge cheer from the crowd for that. I didn’t think about anyone or anything while I danced except him, showing him what all my body could do.

There were two go-go dancers on the stage with me, and they tried to follow my moves but what ended up happening was the three of us danced together, doing a little grinding that I hoped Rick didn’t mind.

When the song was over, Rick was the first one to his feet, giving me a standing ovation and the rest of the club followed him, rising, clapping, and whistling, having a good time, which was the point. Everything done on stage was so everyone enjoyed themselves, and Damon, Burke, and Joel never disappointed.

I was met at the bottom of the stairs by Rick, who had my robe in his hands and helped me get it on before we retook our seats. Before Damon could make it back on stage, however, a man came to our table and said, “Kan. It’s been a long time.”

Chapter Thirty-One

“Jeffery,”Isaidina whisper, then looked up to see the man’s face.

I thought it would hurt, but instead, I just felt…nothing. “How are you, Kan?”

I stood and shook his hand. “Very well. Thanks.”

Rick was right beside me, with his arm encircling my waist. “Kanan, introduce me.”

I stood with Rick next to me, smiling, as I said, “Jeffery, this is my partner, Rick Belish. Rick, this is Jeffery, the man I used to live with.”

Rick held out his hand to Jeffery, who tentatively took it, giving him a shake quickly. “Nice to meet you.” To me, he said, “You still dance beautifully.”

“Doesn’t he?” Rick asked. “If you’ll excuse us,” he said, then sat back in his chair, pulling me down too.

“Sure, sure. It was nice seeing you, Kan.”

His face, his green eyes, his voice, I thought they’d break me, but I felt Rick next to me, and knew how good my life had become. “You too, Jeffery.”

After he left, I turned to Rick, who watched my face closely. I was sure he worried that I’d feel bad, but I just smiled at him. “Got that over with, and I’m here with the love of my life.”

“Me too. Fuck that guy.”

I laughed as I so rarely, outside of sex, heard Rick cussing. “No thanks. I’d much rather fuck you.”

The first scene was coming, and Damon got on stage to announce something special. Not only did I know them, and well, I’d seen them perform before, when they owned the club in Denver, but to see them again was incredible.

“Our first performance is a treat. Two men that used to own a big club some of you may know, in Denver, they’re here for their first getaway in our little hamlet! Please, please, give a huge Cowpokes welcome to Travis and Lonnie Walton!”

As everyone cheered, Rick leaned in to ask, “Don’t you know them?”

“Yes! They and Brian Lauder run the house where I stayed after Jeffery, and I split. They sent me here.”

“I’ll have to thank them personally.”

“Me too, again.”

Travis and Lonnie Walton had owned and managed Chaps, in Denver. They were married and Lonnie was Travis’s submissive. They liked to treat the crowd now and then by performing scenes on one of the many stages there, so to see them again, it made me homesick.

Chaps had been a great place, but it was now a memory. My life was with Rick, and Cowpokes, the club I wanted to frequent.

Lonnie gave me a wink and wave as they stood near Damon. I waved back and pointed to Rick, getting a thumb’s up from Lonnie.
