SUSAN

Iopen the door to my apartment, leading Ed, Ollie, and Artie inside. My home is a reflection of my eclectic tastes and passions. The walls are adorned with artwork, a tapestry of colors and emotions. Books line the shelves, their spines worn and well loved, bearing witness to the countless journeys they’ve taken me on.

“I’m surprised all four of us can fit in,” Ollie jokes.

“Welcome to New York,” I say, wincing a little. Despite all its flaws, I love the city. But I also know that I really fell in love with Wishing.

“So, what have you been up to for the last couple of months?” Artie says, flopping down on the couch. “Tell us everything.”

I rub my head. “Boring stuff. I turned in my edits and worked with my marketing team to plan out the road to publication and tours. Yesterday I almost cramped my hand, signing book plates. But this is all worth it.”

“I’m glad you’re happy,” Ed says. “Are you happier than you were in Wishing?”

I chew on my lips. The answer is going to change everything, I know that deep inside.

“No,” I finally say. “I would rather be there.”

“Why didn’t you come home?” Artie says.

“I was scared,” I say truthfully. “I didn’t want the entire basis of our relationship to be a baby. I didn’t want to make you feel trapped.”

Ed kneels in front of me. “Why on earth would you think that?”

I take a deep breath. “It was a test. When I told you I lost the baby, your first reaction was relief. And I didn’t want Ollie to resent me for binding myself to him against his will. And even Artie was ready to give up his dreams without a second thought. It was overwhelming.” I shake my head.

“Good Lord, Susan,” Ollie says. “Why on earth would you think those things? Of course we love you.”

I smile. “I know that now. I knew it the moment I saw you at the bookstore. I know it’s a far cry from your comfort zone, and yet you came.”

“How could we not?” Artie says softly. “We love you.”

I nod as tears run down my cheeks. “I love you too.”

“I love you.”

It’s a fervent prayer, a chant that repeats within me again and again.

Ed leans forward and kisses me. Our lips meet in a fervent kiss, igniting a fire that has long been smoldering within us. The world around us fades into insignificance as our bodies respond to the magnetic pull.

His touch is electrifying, his hands tracing delicate patterns along the curve of my back, sending shivers of anticipation coursing through me.

In this moment, time stands still, and there’s only the intoxicating taste of his lips, the gentle press of his body against mine.

As the tender kiss with Ed lingers on my lips, a sense of anticipation fills the air as Ollie and Artie step forward, their eyes filled with lust. Their eyes say only one thing. They haven’t had me in a while, and this time they won’t be contained.

I turn to Artie, whose gaze skims my face and body. He looks at me with a mischievous grin. Without a word, we come together, and Artie’s lips meet mine in a gentle, passionate kiss. His mouth is hot and inviting, and I can feel his tongue playing with mine, teasing and exploring. I melt into the kiss, the heat radiating from our bodies as our tongues entwine.

Ollie is next, and his kiss is more fervent than Artie’s, his tongue probing mine. I’m sandwiched between the two of them.

As we stand there, my body still tingling from their kisses, Ollie and Artie slowly begin to undress me. The fabric of my custom-tailored dress slides away from my body like a whisper, exposing my skin to the warm night air. When I bought this dress two weeks ago, I wondered how they would feel about seeing me in it. Now I know.

I stand before them, feeling a mix of vulnerability and self-consciousness as my swollen belly is exposed. Yet, they look at me with nothing but desire, their gazes darkening with hunger.

I put my arms around myself. “You don’t have to look at me.”

“Don’t hide yourself,” Ed coaxes. “Susan, you are the epitome of beauty. Your body is a reminder of the miracle of life, and it only makes our love for you even stronger.”

Ollie steps forward and cups my face as he leans in, tongue coaxing my lips apart. I surrender to the intensity of our kiss, allowing the waves of desire to consume me, erasing any doubts or fears that may have lingered.
