“No it isn’t.” I put my hand over the blanket but I don’t yank it off her. “Come out, Susan. It’s just me. You can talk to me.”

I wait for a few minutes, and eventually her face peeks out from behind the blanket.

“Hey,” she says.

“Hey,” I say. She looks so kissable that I have to resist the urge to lean over and put my mouth on hers. That would be betraying my brothers in a way, though I don’t understand the dynamics there yet. None of us have claimed this girl. She has to come to us first, which she tried doing last night before getting spooked.

Her blonde hair is piled up on top of her head. Like at the gas station, she’s wearing an oversized sweatshirt paired with joggers. She looks so fucking beautiful.

“Hey, is this a good time?” I ask.

“Yeah,” she says.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning,” she says.

“Still thinking about last night?” I ask.

She blushes slightly, ducking her head. “Of course. It was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.”

I put a hand on her knee through the blanket. “Don’t be. It was as much of a new territory for us as it was for you.”

She doesn’t answer me right away. Instead she slides off the bed. I watch her ass swing side to side as she walks over to the window.

“The snow is still coming down pretty hard.” I follow her almost as if drawn to her like a magnet. I don’t understand this attraction to her.

I try to see what she does through her eyes and follow her gaze out the window. In the daylight, the land looks pristine, dark green replaced by white snow. My room gives a panoramic view of the lush forest behind the house that is currently covered in over five feet of snow.

“Yeah, but trust me when I say it’s not as bad as it sometimes gets,” I say.

She smiles. “Then I should be grateful.”

“Are you okay?” I ask.

“Yeah, I am,” she says.

“I’m sorry about last night,” I say. “You look pretty shaken.”

“It’s not…I’m not. Well, it’s complicated.”

“You didn’t think we would go through with it, did you?”

She looks up at me, flushing slightly. “I kind of did, yes.”

Oh fuck.

“Then what happened?” I ask.

She bumps me on my arm. “You know what happened. I chickened out.”

What if she hadn’t? I could have been inside of her by now. I would have learned the curves of her body. I would have memorized the scent of her skin.

“You weren’t the only one. We were in over our heads,” I admit. This seems to soften her. Her shoulders relax.

“It was a good prank,” Susan says finally.

I nod, except it really wasn’t. I don’t know what compelled Ed to suggest it in the first place. He isn’t a jokester, so there must be something going on in his head. And from our conversation, one thing is clear, even though none of us would actually admit it. My brothers and I actually wanted to fuck her.
