“What’s happened to my little sister, Daniel?” Oliver demands.

“Did you know who she’s been dating?” I ask as I reach the front door. Harry goes ahead of me and holds the door before rushing to the car and holding the back door open.

“No, I just know it was some guy called Leo,” he answers.

“It was Leo Rossi.”

Oliver curses loudly down the line. “You said was. What the fuck did he do to my sister? And why do you need me to meet you at the warehouse?” he growls as the car starts moving.

“I found him attempting to rape her,” I answer as my blood boils.

“Where the fuck is he!” Oliver roars.

“At the warehouse, which is why I want you there. I will be dealing with him personally.”

“Not if I fucking get there first,” Oliver yells before hanging up.

“Fuck,” I curse, turning to Harry. “I want whoever’s at the warehouse made aware that Oliver Lawson is on his way, and he’s not to be harmed even if he tries to get to Rossi,” I order. Harry nods and quickly has his phone to his ear. I message the head of housekeeping and let them know about Gabriella and that she has full access to everything.

I’m just putting down my phone when I hear Malcolm clear his throat from the driving seat.

“Yes?” I ask, running my fingers through my hair to make myself look presentable. I plan on scaring the shit out of Rossi before I end the fucker.

“May I ask after Miss Lawson?” he asks gently. I look at Malcolm as he glances at me in the rearview mirror. He has formed an attachment to Gabriella whilst visiting her bookshop; I know it would have upset him to see her like that before.

“She has several bruises and injuries, but she was sleeping when I left her,” I reply. “She was thankfully less harmed than we feared,” I add. Malcolm nods understandingly. Even if she wasn’t raped, the fact that he was attempting to would be enough to cause psychological damage. I plan on getting her in touch with a psychiatrist if she requires it.

“She is a sweet thing and didn’t deserve to be mistreated,” Malcolm says before looking at me in the rear-view mirror.

“She will never be mistreated again. I’ll make sure of it,” I reply, looking at him. He gives me one acknowledging nod and continues to drive in silence.

Everyone who has met Gabriella has fallen in love with her sweet temperament. She would never hurt a fly, and to think people would still harm her is enough for me to make an example of Leo Rossi. I plan to show the world what happens if they mess with what’s mine.

“Boss, we’re nearly there. Apparently, he is being very vocal about his rights and demanding they let him go,” Harry says from beside me.

“I would happilylet him go. He will have weights around his ankles as Ilet him gofrom the end of a pier. Any sign of Oliver yet?”

Harry shakes his head. “I’m sure he will be there shortly, though.”

I nod and go back to looking out of the blacked-out window.

As soon as my mind wanders, I hear Gabriella sobbing as I held her. I close my eyes and remember the panic that consumed me when I realised she was in trouble. The sight of him on top of her, her torn panties on the floor, and her body lying there with the pillow over her face. I was so sure we were too late. After finally having her back in my life, I thought I had lost her all over again. When she moved as I lifted the pillow from her face … There will never be words for the relief I felt.

Leo Rossi will pay for what he did to her and die by my hand. Not her brothers, not one of my men’s, but mine.

“Boss, we’re here,” Harry says next to me. I look at him and nod. Malcolm gets out of the car and opens my door for me; I thank him as I prepare myself for what I’m about to do.

I walk towards the back of the warehouse, where we have a soundproof room. With every step, I can feel my anger growing inside of me. The black monster that consumes me when blood needs to be spilt. I let him take over and shut down all other emotions, focusing purely on my anger and seeking revenge. The man in that room had the audacity to attackmyGabriella, to try to rape and kill her. He must pay. I come to a stop at the door and take a deep breath before turning to Harry and giving a nod. He opens the door, and I storm into the room.

Inside are three of my men watching over Leo Rossi and his guard. Both are tied to a chair in the middle of the room. They are covered in blood, looking like they have taken a beating already. I turn to Harry with an arched brow, who casually shrugs.

“I did warn you that they tripped, boss.”

I have to stop myself from laughing out loud as I turn back to Rossi, who is watching me. I undo the buttons on my jacket and shrug it off before handing it to one of my guys. Slowly and confidently, I walk up to Leo, unbuttoning a cuff, and rolling my sleeves.

“Looks like he took for than a tumble. What did he do, fall down a flight of stairs?” I ask as I come to a stop in front of his chair. I roll the sleeve to just above my elbow and move on to the other.

“Something like that,” I hear Harry answer. There is no missing the humour in his voice.
