“I don’t need a winning personality, as I have no interest in getting to know her. I’m going to find a woman to take to these functions; that’s it. I might even go on my own and claim I’m A sexual yet.” I know he’s seriously considering doing just that. It’s been years since he last went on a date.

I walk over to our makeshift bar, pouring three whiskeys and handing them out to the guys before sitting back on the couch.

“Anyway, back to something that doesn’t involve Bambi’s dick. What do you make of the security system that’s in place at Young's?” Calvin asks, looking at Logan over his glass.

The two of them start throwing around ideas on how the system could have been compromised and what changes need to be made. Calvin suggests getting the guys starting tomorrow to do a report of where the cameras are and if they are all in working condition. That way Logan isn’t going in blind on Wednesday, when he goes in to do a full assessment.

The whole time, I try to concentrate on the conversation and throw in my own two cents now and again, but my mind keeps wandering back to my phone and the fact I matched with Chelsea. I’m not blind; I notice that Calvin also keeps glancing at his phone. I saw how he looked at her today when he thought no one was looking, I haven’t seen him interested in anyone for a long time, but then Chelsea walked into the elevator and couldn’t take his eyes off her. I know because I couldn’t either.

As the evening processes, so does the amount of whiskey we drink. It’s not long before I start feeling the effects of the alcohol.

“You know, us all matching with the same woman may be a good thing.”

I look from the TV programme we’re all watching to see Calvin looking at his phone.

“Why do you say that?” Logan asks.

“Well, think about it; she says in her profile that she isn’t looking for a long-term relationship. What if she was to accompany us all to events and dinners? We wouldn’t all have to deal with women getting clingy whilst trying to deal with business stuff. She knows how the business world works and what to expect at these events.”

“Are you suggesting we all use her to get ahead?” I ask, shocked that he would think of doing such a thing, especially to someone as lovely as Chelsea.

“Of course not. We would tell her what we wanted, she would have to agree to it, and we would stay as honest with her as possible.”

I never thought he could be so heartless. Yes, he’s brutal when out on the field, and there isn’t much he wouldn’t do to get our company off the ground and as successful as we hope it will become. But to use Chelsea in that way seems wrong on so many levels. Would I feel differently if it was a random person I had never met?

“So, we would tell her we want someone to pretend to be dating us? Explain we are not in a position to dedicate time to a real relationship,” Logan says, and I realise he seems also to be contemplating it.

“Why the hell would she agree to that? What’s in it for her?” I demand.

“She gets taken out for meals and ‘dates’ and isn’t expected to put out. She gets the company she craves, and we get the dates for when we need one,” Calvin explains. I look to Logan to find him nodding as if it makes perfect sense.

“If we are honest from day one, then she won’t expect anything else, which means she won’t get hurt.”

“I don’t like this. It feels wrong and manipulative,” I point out. Logan looks at me and shrugs.

“If we are honest, then we’re not manipulating her. She can always say no. We aren’t forcing her to do anything she wouldn’t want to.”

He has a point, but it still doesn’t sit right with me.

“So, we are all going to do it then? We’ll see if she’s interested in fake dating us and take it from there?” Calvin asks. Logan nods before they both turn their attention to me.

“Do I even have a choice?” I ask.

“Of course you do. You know I would never force you to do something you aren’t comfortable with,” Calvin says from his seat. I look down at my glass, which only has a small amount in it. I lift it to my mouth and let the rest of the liquid pour down my throat.

“Fine, but if she gets hurt, I’m killing you both myself!”

Logan

“Hi, I’m here to upgrade the security system.”

The brunette at the reception desk looks up from her computer and does a double-take before a large smile spreads across her face, and she starts fluttering her eyelashes at me.

“Hi, of course. What’s your name please?”

“Logan Wilson.”
