“I already know all I need to know?” A teasing grin took over her face.

Shaking his head, he bit back a smile and drew her impossibly closer. “The other part.”

“Oh, that. I love you.”

“Thank heaven.”

Chapter Seventeen– Epilogue

“This is the most perfect wedding ever.”

The words that drifted across a huddle of guests brought a smile to Paige’s face. Her sister Eve’s wedding was the first large event held at the winery and even she was surprised at how few hitches they’d come across.

“Don’t you look stunning tonight.” Jack Preston, her sister’s former party escort, came up beside her.

“Thank you. But no need to lay the flattery on so thick.”

His eyes widened. “Sorry, was just stating a fact.”

“Then I repeat. Thank you.” Despite the stories of his youthful shenanigans with her brother Kyle and playboy reputation that followed him around all the rag magazines, she knew that Jack really was a stand-up guy. According to Eve, never once had he crossed the line with her and more than a few times, he’d saved her a world of headaches when it came to ambitious men eager to sink their teeth into the Baron assets.

“So what are your plans for the winery now?” he asked.

“Nothing new. We’re just going to build on what we’ve got.” Her cheeks tugged hard at her lips. “And it’s going to be great.”

Jack barked out a laugh that made his blue eyes sparkle. No wonder he was considered a catch. “It already is.”

“And what are you two laughing about?” Mitch took a seat beside Jack. “And please don’t tell me you’re making a play for my kid sister. I’d hate to have to punch you in the nose.”

Jack held up both hands. “Innocent.”

“Mitch, leave him be. He’s a perfect gentleman.”

“See?” Jack smiled at Mitch.

While the two men started a new line of conversation over an upcoming bill that Mitch was sponsoring in the Senate, Paige’s gaze scanned the room. The wedding planner was corralling her father away from the bar. Based on where Eve and Jared stood across the dance floor waiting, Paige knew their father’s toast was next on the agenda.

Try as she might, she couldn’t take her eyes off her sister and now brother-in-law. She’d seen their happiness all these months as their love took root and bloomed, and, of course, through the wedding planning, but somehow, she’d never seen them as much in love as they looked this very minute. They could barely keep their eyes, or hands, off each other. It was a joy to watch.

“Eve or Craig?” Her grandmother sat down beside her.

“Excuse me?”

“Which couple are you watching?”

“The bride and groom.”

“Ah. I thought maybe it was Craig and Kate.”

Pulling her attention away from her sister, she shifted her gaze left then right and spotted Craig and Kate at a nearby table. They were the only two still sitting while others danced. They sat so close that if Kate inched any closer she’d be sitting in Craig’s lap. Their heads slightly down, she could tell they were sharing a private moment. One that had them both smiling. The whole scene made Paige grin. Though a small twinge of jealousy bloomed in her gut. So many of her siblings were finding their perfect match, and all of them looked so darn happy.

Keeping her gaze on her brother, she couldn’t help but notice the gentle way his thumb caressed the hand he held while his eyes remained fixed on the woman he loved and the words she spoke. Where did a woman have to go to find a man to look at her like that?

“My money is on a June wedding.” Her grandmother’s gaze remained on her grandchildren.

“Did he propose?” Paige swung around to face her grandmother. How had she missed that? Surely someone would have told her.

“No.” Her grandmother’s grin widened. “But it’s coming. I can tell.”
