“Friend?is that what we're calling her these days?” I stood up a little straighter.

“Is there something going on between you two that I don't know about?”

“Unless you count her eating my stash of Goldfish, then no. There’s nothing going on. Come on, Matty, are you ready to go?” Matty adjusted his jacket and nodded. “Good, because if we stay longer, you might get interrogated about your relationship with Britt.”

“There is no relationship with Britt,” he responded, almost bored with the whole thing now.

“No. You're right. You've got more of a chance of making yourself a fake Britt with that AI thing than getting with her. I hear she's been talking to a couple of the guys on the hockey team, anyway,” Jackson teased, and if it was affecting Matty, he was doing well to hide it.

“She’s allowed. I've got a girlfriend, remember?”

“Are you sure? Last time I checked, you were on the fourth breakup of the semester.”

“Olana's fiery. She has a tendency to over-blow things. That's all.”

“Whatever you say, man.” Jackson wrapped his arm around Matty's shoulder, and they both said goodbye.

I wasn't going to pretend I didn't notice Jackson's segue into Matty's love life, so we'd stop talking about his, but I was going to leave it for now. Thea hadn’t mentioned anything, and I knew her well enough to know she would if there was something serious going on.

“See you guys later,” Jackson called, shutting the door behind him and Matty.

Aster turned to me, that knowing smile still on her face.

“What was that about?”

“What?” Aster asked innocently, replacing Jackson on the barstool.

“You were teasing Jackson about something.”

She dragged the tortilla bowl over to her, cradling it like it was her firstborn child, and munched at the chips.

“It's nothing.” Her lips tipped on the ends, and it most certainly did not sound like nothing.

“Aster,” I teased, and when I got close enough, I rolled the barstool around, so she was facing me. Admittedly, it took a lot longer than expected because Aster held her arms firmly on the counter, not wanting to leave the chips. “Is there something you aren’t telling me?”

“Nothing. I just think your sister has a crush on Jackson.”

“Don’t tell me that,” I groaned. “I already suspected something.”

“Why? Is it that bad?”

“No. It’s just some things happened with Thea when we were younger, and I don’t want her repeating the same mistakes.”

“What happened?”

“Honestly, it’s not my place to say now that you and Thea are friends. I feel like it would be betraying her trust.”

“Okay.” She looked down at her hands, playing with her fingers.

“It’s not you, and I’m sure she’ll tell you soon, but if she finds out I told you, she’ll be upset considering she’s been trying to pretend that night never happened for the last few years. Not to mention the shit I got in trouble for after.”

“I get it. She’s your twin. It’s just now I’m in an awkward position.”

“Well then, how about we try to help that?” With her legs crossed, it felt like she was too far away from me, so I danced my hands across the tops of her thighs until I reached the edge of her skirt.

“What are you doing?”

“Getting us comfortable. We’ve got another twenty minutes until the food is ready.” We were nose to nose now, so I did what felt natural. I bent down and placed a small kiss on her lips. As I backed away, Aster cupped my chin, pulling me back for more. Our kisses became languid. Her legs wrapped around my ass, and somehow, I was already pressing my hardened cock against her pussy.
