“Come see me? And how is that going to happen?” She smacked her full, glossy lips.

“Don’t worry about it. I have my ways, remember?” In the distance, sirens cried into the twilight sky. She gave a half-smile, knowing I was right about the cops coming. I shook my head and let my eyes roam over her perky tits shamelessly that time.

“Pervert,” she scoffed, walking off.

“That ass is little like them titties but I like it, Jupiter.” I grinned.

She tossed a middle finger over her shoulder and I laughed. A real fucking laugh. She wasn’t easily shaken. I liked that.

“We gotta roll out. Twelve coming,” Truck said, unlocking his truck from his spot on the sidewalk. “Where the lil chocolate baddie go?” He asked, looking around for Jupiter.

“She left,” I said, still staring in the direction she walked off in.

I saw right then I wasn’t the only dangerous one.

Jupiter could cause damage too.

CHAPTER SIX

When I got home, I still heard sirens from the cop cars zooming down Crenshaw to Darby Park. I sighed and took the gun from my waist. Jane would flip if she knew I brought it out. She hated having one in the house but I insisted on having weapons. How else were two women in Inglewood supposed to protect themselves?

I was a fan of all kinds of weapons. I had knives, a gun, brass knuckles, tasers, and pepper spray. I wasn’t afraid to use any of them. Jay was the one who hated violence and weapons.

While I was busy cooking one of my Hello Fresh meals, I pinned my phone to my ear with my shoulder and talked to Jay on her break. “I swear, I need to find the magic room to fall asleep in. Every time I think I found one, someone is in there napping or fucking.”

“Eww, fucking?” I laughed, scrunching my face. I poured another glass of wine and lifted it to my lips.

“Yes, girl,” she chuckled. “I got to remove those bullets from the gunshot wound patient,” she squeaked. I loved when she was happy. She was such a good person, she deserved little moments of happiness.

“The patient is still alive, right, Jay?” I smirked and pushed the veggies in the pan around with a spatula.

“Of course. Your sister is a bomb-ass surgeon. I’m out here saving lives.” She paused in tooting her horn and said, “Did you hear about the gunshots at Darby?”

“Oh…what?” I asked, feigning shock. Of course, I heard about the shots at the park. I was there when they rang out.

I can’t front like I wasn’t shocked when King fired into the air. Crazy ass. I liked someone who didn’t hesitate though. That shit was sexy.

I blinked images of King’s tall, solid frame and smooth mocha skin out of my head. He was still a sexist bastard. I didn’t think he’d resist me wanting to be in the Kings so hard. It was such a good money-making opportunity. He was stupid as fuck for not bringing me on.

“Yeah, girl. Were you home when it happened? Did you hear anything?” She asked. I was only half-listening because I heard a crash in my bedroom.

“Yeah, I didn’t hear anything though,” I said, turning the burner on the stove off and grabbing my gun from the coffee table in the living room.

“That’s so crazy. I didn’t get any new gunshot victims in so hopefully nobody was hurt.”

“Hopefully,” I said quietly, moving with quick movements toward the bedroom. When I pushed the door open with the barrel of my gun, I saw a tall shadow standing near the now open window beside my bed.

“Damn, you keep the pistol on you, huh?” King’s voice forced a rush of air from my lungs. I thought I was going to have to kill someone.

“Jay, let me go. Instacart is here.”

“Oh, okay then. I’ll call you if I get another break. Put some food away for me, sissy.”

“Will do. Love you.” I ended the call after she told me she loved me too then I turned the light on and looked at King’s stupid ass, smiling at me from the corner of my room.

“Aww, is Jupiter in love? Was that your man?” He asked, gesturing to my phone with black leather gloved hands.
