Jamil blinked up at me, disbelief evident in his dark eyes. He cleared his throat and took a sip from his glass of water. “You could have just asked me to wrap it up. No need to be vulgar,” he said.

“Oh? Why is there no need to be vulgar, Jamil? Is it rude?” I quizzed, lifting a single brow.

“It is,” he said with a curt nod.

“Can’t be any ruder than you on your phone in my fucking face while we’re supposed to be on a date. Do you see me? You’re seriously ignoring how fine I am to check your phone? Jesus, I’m glad I never planned to fuck you.” Of course the server arrived just as the last part of that sentence left my mouth.

“What can I get started for you guys?” She tried her best to ignore the comment she walked in on but I saw her lips twitching with a smile.

Jamil said, “She’ll have the…”

“I know you didn’t try to order for me. Wow. AndI’mrude?” I looked up at the server and flashed a smile. “I’ll have street corn and shrimp tacos. Also, keep the margaritas coming please. Jamil here will pay for it all.”

“I’ll have carne asada please, and no margaritas,” Jamil instructed her.

“Oh, I want all the margaritas, sis,” I told the server. She laughed a little but winked at me when Jamil inevitably went back to his phone. I gave her a thumbs up and sent Jay a text.

Me: You owe me so big, Jane Gray. This motherfucker is the worst and has the nerve to be controlling.

She didn’t respond because she wasn’t rude like my date. She looked in my direction, remorse etched on her face. Shaheed looked at me, a small apologetic smile curving his lips. I wanted to flip him off. Why the fuck did he have to bring his brother along with him?

The server came with food and a pitcher of margaritas. I could have kissed her. Jamil pulled his eyes away from his phone and said, “Excuse me, I said no margaritas.”

“Well, the guy at the bar paid for your entire lunch and endless margaritas. So, you don’t have to worry about it. He even gave me a two-hundred-dollar tip as long as I gave you this note.” She dropped a piece of folded paper into my palm just as my eyes scanned the bar looking for the chocolate skin, the fresh-ass low cut fade, the meticulously trimmed facial hair, the gold bracelet…

My mouth went dry as I searched for King.

My pussy throbbed from the potent memory of him fucking me over and over.

“Oh, hewasright there.” The server frowned, looking toward the bar. “I mean, all of your food and drinks are paid for so you’re good.”

“Was he fine as fuck? Dark skin, pretty smile, vintage Patek with a leather band on his wrist, and a gold bracelet on the other?” Maybe I paid a little bit of attention to King. Just a little.

“Damn girl, yeah, that was him. He had on some fly-ass Jordan’s too.”

“Yup. Sounds about right.” I opened the note from King when the server left and studied the neat pen strokes.

Outside. Now. Black Dodge Charger.

-King

Everything under my skin tingled then gave way to fire. I stood to my feet immediately. Fuck those margaritas. King’s dick was more potent.

I’d never been more sexually compatible with a man the way I was with King. He was going to make an excellent fuck buddy.

“Where are you going, Jupiter?” Jamil asked.

“Oh, this date is done. Enjoy the free lunch.” I smiled then headed outside with some definite pep in my step. My stride slowed when I realized that if I was going to be in the Kings and carve out a space in their gang, I couldn’t fuck King anymore. It would look bad. Nobody else would understand how charged the energy between us was. They’d only see me as some entitled bitch who fucked King to get in. That wasn’t the case. I just liked fucking him. Was that so wrong?

I found the black Charger and walked over as the tinted window rolled down.

Don’t you dare fucking smile when you see him, Ju.

“Get in,” he said, unlocking the door.

“Did you just summon me and pay for my fucking date?” I snapped.

“Date? Who the fuck said you could date anyone?” His coffee-brown eyes gripped mine.
