“What kind of business is it then, King?”

“Ours. Me and you. Let’s get this shit out of our system before you get brought in.” I pulled the hem of her dress down, covering her ass.

“Deal. I’ll stay the night. Just let me tell Jay.” She flashed a smile.

“Who the fuck is Jay?” I finally asked, frustration inching into my shoulder muscles.

“My…sister,” she laughed.

“Your sister?” My eyebrows lifted.

“Yeah, Jane. Well, she’s not my blood sister but she might as well be. We grew up in Ocean View together and made a promise never to leave each other. She was a Jane Doe baby.”

Unfortunately, hearing that shit just made me like Jupiter even more. She was such a good fit for the Kings. She knew what it meant to look out for family and keep your word. That was important.

“Did you think Jay was a man?” She asked, waggling her brows at me.

“Yeah, I did actually.”

“Aw, were you jealous, King?” She pinched my cheek and I pushed her hand away.

“I don’t get jealous, Ju. I told you…no relationships, no jealousy. Plus there’s not a nigga alive that could make me jealous. I’m…”

“King motherfucking Pierce. I know. I’ve heard.” I laughed at her attitude then cupped her warm pussy in my hand.

“I know you’ve heard. Your pussy is covered in my cum. You know who the fuck I am, baby.” I bit her earlobe making her breathing hitch. “Now, tell me Stan’s last name.”

CHAPTER TEN

Pretty Boy found Stan’s info in no time and before I knew it, I was watching three of the four kings plot out his murder. To say I was enthralled would be a gross understatement.

“Where the fuck is Sumo?” King barked out. We were all around the pool table with information and satellite pictures of Stan’s new house spread over the red felt.

I’d cleaned up in King’s bathroom and tied my hair up in a bun. I was ready for whatever the rest of the day brought. If that meant killing Stan…oh well.

“He’s still at the ER. You know how long they take to handle non-life-threatening injuries,” Pretty Boy answered.

“Which ER?” I asked, my ears perking up.

“Centinela,” King responded. I nodded and grabbed my phone, calling Jay.

“Did you go back to work?” I asked when she answered in a hushed tone usually reserved for stolen breaks in the supply area.

“Yeah, I did. I’m here now. Why? Everything okay? You need me to save you from the one-night stand?”

“Oh, girl no. He’s…fine.” I glanced at King while he was focused on something Truck was saying. He was damn fine.

I honestly tried not to fuck him on the balcony but something snaps in me when it comes to him. He was so…charged. So demanding and so real. When he said he’d protect me…it did something to me and my body unlocked for him.

“Um, are you in the ER today?” I asked Jay.

“Yup. It’s a full house. Nothing interesting though. No gunshot wounds or stab victims.” She sounded so sad about it. For someone so bubbly, she sure did love gore and guts.

“What about someone who needs stitches because his face got bashed in with a gun? Interesting enough?”

“Um yeah, but who do you know that’s here like that? And more importantly, whydo you know them?”
