“Betweenus?” Juju quizzed, the soft warmth I saw sometimes flickered in her eyes.

“You heard what the fuck I said.” I glanced to the door and noticed our visitor had left. “Your friend is gone,” I chuckled, kissing the top of her head.

“She probably came when I did,” she laughed, burying her head in the crook of my neck.

“Probably,” I said.

“You’re hurting over losing Sumo, aren’t you?” The question came out of nowhere but I wasn’t shocked that she’d asked. She saw what the hell happened.

“I don’t get hurt,” I told her. Even though I couldn’t remember ever feeling closer to a woman, I still couldn’t fully let my guard down.

“You’re full of shit, but okay. I know if Jay and I had a break like that, it would hurt so bad. She’s the only person I allow in that deep though.”

“The only person, huh?” I asked, intrigued. “You’ve never been in love, Ju?”

“Never. And I don’t plan to. This right here,” she gestured between our naked bodies. “This is as close as I let men get.”

I wanted to tell her to never let another motherfucker this close to her again. I wanted to tell her that if I ever saw anything happening between her and another man, I would shoot him in the head. I didn’t say anything though. I didn’t have any claim to her and I didn’t want to claim her. Not as my woman. Maybe as a partner in crime.

My thoughts were all over the place. Back and forth. One minute I liked being around her and the next minute I wanted to push her away.

“I guess I’m lucky, huh?” I moved a chunk of dark hair from her face so I could see her eyes better.

“You have no idea. So, I get it that you don’t want to talk to me about Sumo. I don’t let anyone in either.” She sat up and I roamed over her body. I couldn’t keep my hands off her so my fingers slid down her mocha skin, tracing the bold tattoos on her. The woman was designer down to the bone. She had a YSL tattoo on the front of her throat.

“He’s so fucking stubborn,” I blurted, frustration clouding in around me. “So selfish. We don’t do that shit in the Legion of Kings. We’re one for all and all for one. Not every man for himself. If I said you were a good fit then he should have backed me.”

“You know why he didn’t want me in, King.” She studied my face, reaching out to touch my sideburns, skimming over to the small diamond in my ear. “He thinks you’ll give me more attention because I’m a woman. Also because I’m fine as fuck, let’s be honest.” I rolled my eyes at her arrogance.

“You’re alright,” I said, knocking her down a few pegs with a smirk.

“Fuck you, I’m bad. You know it or you wouldn’t be fucking me.”

“I do only fuck the baddest,” I admitted.

“Did you fuck that girl out there?” Jupiter asked, her voice sobering. I shot her a quizzical look because I didn’t expect that from her. Regret washed over her face the minute she spit the question out.

“Yeah. I did,” I said nodding. “I don’t know how many times. I don’t even remember her name. She comes over on Fridays sometimes and she’s been rotated through the kings.”

“You don’t even remember?” Jupiter scoffed, sliding off the bed.

“Where are you going?” I frowned, standing to my feet and pulling on my underwear.

“I’m hungry. I’m going out for food. I’ll be back.” Her words were clipped and angry. I watched this different side of Ju while she searched for her clothes. Before she could pull on her jeans, I grabbed her waist hard, making her cry out in pain.

“King, that hurts, you bastard!”

“Are you…jealous?” I lifted an eyebrow while I searched her face. She was an expert at making her expression unreadable. “You don’t like knowing I fucked her, do you?”

“I honestly don’t care, King. Now get off me so I can get dressed,” she huffed, tugging against me.

“Nah. We’re not done.” I slammed the bedroom door locking it and Jupiter leveled an icy glare at me.

“Stop fucking playing and open the door. I’m leaving.”

“Leaving? Nah. You’re not going anywhere.” Like I knew she would, she tried to fight her way out of the room. I restrained her from behind, locking my forearm across her throat while my other arm pinned her flailing arms to her sides, wrapping around her midsection.

“Tell me you’re jealous and I’ll let you go,” I grunted while she struggled against me.
