“I don’t want money,” he said, taking my chin in his hand. “The dragon wants you.”

“The dragon? What the fuck are you talking about?”

“I’m the dragon.”

A shiver ran down my spine.

Fear.

Danger.

Desire?

No. Not that. Definitely not desire. I wasn’t that messed up. “Is the dragon some kind of fucked up nickname? For your secret society?” His grip on my chin tightened. The feeling spread to my core, taking root.

“No.” He shook his head, stepping toward me and closing the space between us. Leaning in, he took my mouth in his. My sex clenched, and I opened for him, allowing him to deepen the kiss until I understood that, yes, I was indeed messed up and very much turned on.

I wanted him.

The man was a kidnapper and completely deranged, but my body responded to him like it had never had with any man before. He leaned me back against the steep rocks and undid the snap and zipper on my jeans, pulling them down along with my thong.

I felt myself grow wet.

“I’m going to fuck you, and you are going to learn not to meddle in stuff you don’t understand. Got it?”

“Yes,” I whispered.

He lowered his swim trunks, and his cock sprung up large and thick and as hot as fire. Pulling one of my legs up, he rubbed it along my slit, melting my frozen skin.

A soft moan escaped me.

“Naughty girl. You like this.” He showed no mercy and plunged into me as I cried out, thrusting each time to the hilt, so I had to take all of him until I was sure I would split in two. The feeling inside me grew. His hand moved under my sweater and pushed the cup of my bra to the side, freeing my breast. He rolled my nipple between his thumb and finger. My clit throbbed with an energy so intense I didn’t know existed.

I ran my hand over his chest, and along the silver medallion he wore around his neck. It was like touching the sun. He gripped my hand, interlocking our fingers, and brought it above my head, pressing it into the hard rock.

“Close your eyes,” he ordered.

I did. His skin blazed, and I knew if I looked at him, I would be blinded. The feeling in me grew until I couldn’t take it any longer. I felt myself begin to shake with my coming release. Apparently, he did too. “Fuck,” he groaned as I felt him stiffen with his own pleasure.

It was enough to send me over the edge, and I felt myself spiral into oblivion. When it was over, Rhys pulled out of me. I opened my eyes to find him staring into the ocean with his back to me.

“We should get back,” he said, a bit disconcerted.

I felt off-kilter as if somehow a piece of me was missing. I pulled up my jeans and fastened them, fixing my bra.

Rhys turned, and I took a step back. His eyes, normally a deep brown, were blood red, and the pupils were no more than slits running vertically. I blinked several times. But when I looked again, they had returned to normal. He bent down and picked up his backpack. “Let’s go.”

Maybe it was my imagination. I followed him toward the trail when all of a sudden, there was yelling coming from the woods, and the elderly couple came hurrying from a side trail. “Mae rhywbeth ôl yno,” the man said anxiously.

“What did he say?” I asked Rhys.

“He says there is something back there.”

“An animal.” The man’s eyes darted between us. “It’s dead.”

“Show me,” Rhys said.

The man led us inland through a thick copse of trees until we reached a clearing. His wife hung back, clearly upset. I could smell it before I saw it, and I covered my mouth and nose with my hand. In the center lay a coal-black bull. His body looked like a deflated plush toy someone had removed all the stuffing from. Rhys knelt down beside it.
