Smiling back, I lean on the counter. “I’m really good. I really need some of your coffee though. Extra caffeine, if possible!”

“Haven’t been sleeping good?”

“I could sleep fine if it didn’t seem like there’s somebody sneaking around out at my place at night.”

His eyes widen. “Somebody is coming onto your land at night?”

I nod my head and take the cup of coffee he gives me. I take a sip of the latte and moan. “You know what I like, thank you.” Another sip and I answer, “I think there’s been someone there for the last three nights. But every time I go outside with my baseball bat, there’s nobody there.”

“Oh, you shouldn’t go outside, Treaty. Why didn’t you call the sheriff?”

I can’t answer that because it never crossed my mind. I’m used to taking care of things by myself.

I glance at my watch and groan. “Ugh. I’ve got to go open up my booth. Tell Jacklyn that I’ve got some new crystal earrings. I know she loves them.”

“I’ll let her know. But next time you hear a noise, call the sheriff.”

I nod my head but keep walking, still not sure if I intend to call for help or not.

I jog across to my booth set-up and open it up, pulling out my boxes and bags and then unpacking the jewelry from the carrying cases. The very last thing that I pull out is my newest item, the crystal mobile. I have it in a beautiful clear crystal in hearts and flower carvings that I found. I also have it in a stunning citrine and moonstone design that’s carved into stars and moons. The clear crystal is a powerful stone for heartbreak and healing and also memory. The citrine is for when you feel low to give you calm and rest. The moonstone is to clear your head and help you make good decisions. These mobiles can be hung in your house as a decoration that has a helpful purpose for those that believe in the powers of crystal healing. By a window and they are recharged by the sun and moon.

I’m setting out my necklaces, charm bracelets made with tiny crystals and gleaming earrings when Julius comes strolling up to me, a smug smile on his face. Sighing, I glare at him.

“I don’t think you’re here for crystal jewelry so you might as well keep walking.”

His face goes cold and angry. “I’m surprised at you, Treaty. You’re turning into a real bitch since our divorce.”

Putting a hand on my hip, I turn and glare at him. “I really don’t care what you think, Julius. We are divorced and I want to keep it that way. If you think that I’m a bitch now, well, that’s fair since you were a fucking bastard while we were married. And a cheating bastard at that. So don’t expect to chit-chat with me. I’ve really got nothing to say to you and I wish you’d fucking go away.”

There’s a nasty look in his eyes when he steps closer to me. “You would think that a fat bitch like you would take what you could get with a man, Treaty. Without being so damn picky.”

“I think that the lady has made her feelings known. Maybe you could find another woman in town to gift with your questionable attentions.”

My head jerks up and my mouth pops open and then tips into a smile. “Jude! I’m surprised that you’re here today.”

He smiles back at me as Julius glares at him. “Yeah. I figured I’d come into town and get some good coffee.” He holds up a cup from Starry Night. “And I saw you out here. Thought I’d stop and say hi!”

His bright eyes are smiling and there’s a tilt to his firm lips that I didn’t see before. I have to look up at him since he’s at least a foot taller than me. He’s so tall and strong, his chest wide and ripped. His shoulder-length dark hair lies around his broad shoulders. There’s a touch of gray at his temples and threaded through the top of his dark hair that makes my fingers itch to touch it where it’s shimmering in the weak sunlight.

He takes a sip of his coffee and groans. “Boy, that’s good stuff. Nothing like what I make, huh?”

“I would never say that you make bad coffee, Jude.”

He chuckles. “That’s just because you’re too nice.”

“I wouldn’t say that,” Julius says.

“What would you say?” Jude growls under his breath and moves closer to him.

Julius glares at him. “I’d say that you’re butting into something that’s none of your business. Treaty and I have history.”

Jude’s lip curls. “Yeah, I think I heard some of how that history went. I’m not surprised she got out when she could.”

Julius goes white and then red. He stomps towards me but before he can reach me, Jude moves in front of me and grunts. “I don’t want to have to call the sheriff on you for harassing this woman but I will.”

I peek around his shoulder. “I’m not quite sure why you keep coming back but I think that you might as well give it up. I have nothing to say to you.”

“We’ll talk later.” He shoots Jude one last glare and then stomps off.
