Footsteps sounded behind her, following her down from the front porch step.

“Looks like the transport isn’t here yet,” Cordelia commented over her shoulder. She wished the damned thing would hurry up. They should have just taken Sahin’s vehicle and gone straight to the infirmary, but Jakkar had insisted they take one of the government transports.

They all looked the same to her, but apparently this one was meant to be more durable. Safer.

“Every moment I see you, Runa, I am humbled to call you mine.” Arms wrapped around her from behind, pulling her gently into Ezul’s hard chest. His hands cradled her still-flat stomach lovingly, and she leaned into him.

To say that he was excited about their plans today was an understatement. He’d already been awake for hours before she’d even cracked an eye open, treating her to breakfast in bed, which she’d thankfully kept down, a foot massage, and then he’d gone down on her for multiple orgasms.

A deep purr rumbled in Ezul’s chest, making her eyes heavy with sleep as the noise increased in volume. Her head rested on his chest while they both looked toward the sky, watching giant creatures that reminded her of dragons flying off in the distance.

Everything about Aragnok was both more beautiful in the light of day and equally as horrifying, depending on the kinds of beasts that were lurking nearby.

Cordelia had even seen her first lomta the other day when she’d stepped outside the house for some fresh air. Ezul had ushered her quickly back inside, demanding she stay away from the meerkat-looking animals. They were thin and tall, with sleek black fur and adorable little faces.

She didn’t see the big deal–they were small and cute–but if her mate was wary enough of a lomta, she knew it was for a good reason.

“Are you ready to go find out if I’m pregnant?” she asked, breaking the content silence between them.

Ezul kissed the top of her head. “I already know you are pregnant, as do you.”

Cordelia shrugged, smirking. “I know, but it’s not real until a doctor tells you.”

“I feel ill at ease to know you will be poked and prodded like an animal,” Ezul growled, the purr in his chest disappearing.

“Not like an animal,” Cordelia corrected with a slight laugh. The transport they were waiting on came into sight, speeding its way over. “They just need to verify we’re having a baby and make sure I’m doing well. Delilah’s been through her pregnancy longer than me and you know she’s okay. Sahin even told you there was nothing to worry about.”

Ezul hissed out a breath, fingers tightening on her stomach for a moment. “He can worry over his mate, and I shall worry over mine.”

She lifted a brow. “You’re in a mood.”

He huffed, kissing the crown of her head once more as the transport pulled up beside them. The door opened automatically, revealing empty silver benches running along each side of the vehicle as they stepped inside.

The console at the front of the transport already had the coordinates for the capitol building displayed, along with the large, rectangular screen that gave them a view of the road ahead.

“I am ina moodbecause I do not like being in the dark to your needs. It makes me feel inadequate as your mate.”

He pulled Cordelia down onto his lap, adjusting her legs until she was straddling him, her dress sliding up her thighs.

As soon as the door closed and the transport began moving, Cordelia asked him a question that had been driving her crazy for days.

“What were you doing with Delilah yesterday and the day before?”

Cordelia had been dying to ask why he’d been secretive with her sister-in-law for the past few weeks, but every time she’d brought it up, he had successfully distracted her with orgasms.

But now she had him alone and trapped in a vehicle for the next several minutes, and she intended to use that to her advantage.

Ever since the impromptu foot massage, Ezul and Delilah had been as thick as thieves. Any time Cordelia had walked into a room they were in, they broke apart, both looking guilty.

Ezul most of all.

If she wasn’t one hundred percent certain Ezul and Delilah would never cheat, she would have felt jealous or insecure. Instead, she was growing nosier by the day.

Ezul fidgeted at her question, his eyes wandering about, looking at anything but her face.

“I do not wish to discuss it.”

“So youaredoing something with her then. Very interesting.”
