“What the hell did you guys do to him?” Riddick's voice cut through the haze around me.

“He fought us,” a voice, which I recognized as Jigsaw's, responded.

“So you fucked him up? He's not a fucking criminal,” Riddick retorted.

“He killed one of our men,” Jameson stated firmly.

I shook my head, trying to clear the fog. “Riddick?”

“Hey, brother, you okay?”

“You need to go,” I managed to croak out.

“What?” Riddick leaned in so I could whisper in his ear.

“She's all alone. You need to go to her.”

Riddick stood up and faced Rael and Jigsaw. “Where's the girl?”

Rael shrugged. “There was no girl. He was in the room alone.”

Riddick then turned to Jameson. “Where is she?”

“It doesn't matter. She's where she needs to be. She's not our problem.”

“Bullshit!” Riddick exclaimed. “She's his problem.” He pointed at me. “You think he'd risk his life and kill if he didn't care about that girl.”

“Watch your tone, brother,” Macabre warned him gently. “We know where she is, but…”

“But what?” Riddick demanded.

“We can't risk starting a full-blown war with the cartels,” someone stated.

I groaned, and Riddick turned to me. “You have to go. She's important. They’ll kill her.”

“I know, brother,” he replied, then faced the rest of the group and directed his attention to Jameson. “I've done a lot for this club, you know that.”

“This isn't about you, Enforcer,” Scorn interrupted.

“I know that,” Riddick snapped. He was vouching for me, saving my life.

“I'm just asking for time. He'll pay his dues after that, but let him get to his woman.”

Scorn looked at Macabre, and their eyes shifted to Jameson. He approached me and crouched down before me.

“You won't run?” he asked.

“No,” I shook my head. “Just please help me save her.”

He looked up at a man I hadn't seen before. “Grim?”

Grim possessed powers that most of us couldn't comprehend. He had the ability to search a person's soul and read their aura, making him able to detect any lies. He was so good at it that no one questioned his judgment. It didn't matter to me, though, because I wasn't lying. As soon as she was safe, I'd return and face my punishment.

“He's telling the truth,” Grim confirmed.

Jameson took a step back, eyeing the other members. “He can't go in alone. He won’t make it out alive.”

“I'll go with him,” Riddick offered immediately.
