I ran toward Catalina, kneeling before the chair. “Cat? Baby girl, come on.”

“We found the target. Let’s close this out.” Riddick ordered.

He then looked at me, as he stood at the doorway. “Make this fast, Snare. They’re closing in on us.”

I undid the rope on her wrists and then using the hatchet I tore through the chain that connected her chair to the wall. She slowly started coming to.

“Scott?”

“Yes, baby. It’s me.”

“Scott, my dad,” she started to sob as she leaned forward, pressing her face into my neck.

“I know, baby girl. I know.”

Riddick appeared beside me and handed me the gun. Lifting her he looked at me. “I said make it quick.”

Shots were fired as we approached the doorway. Macabre appeared, firing back and giving us cover as we took off back toward the bikes. When I looked over my shoulder, I saw the shadow of a Reaper emerge.

“Are they always that dramatic?” I asked Macabre.

He smirked. “You haven’t seen the half of it.”

I winced as I got back on my bike. Riddick placed Catalina on my lap, and she looked up at me and smiled.

“Hey, baby girl. How ‘bout I get you out of here?”

“It really is you.” She reached up, caressing my face. I revved up the engine, and without a second look back, I took off.

I could have veeredoff the road and disappeared several times in the last four hours, but I didn’t. It would have only made it worse for us. Instead, I brought her back to the Crossroads and as soon as we walked through the doors, Jameson took her away. I remembered the last conversation we had before they removed her from my side.

"We should run," she had begged.

"I can't, baby girl. I'm sorry for putting you through all of this," I replied.

"You've done nothing but protect me," she said, gently cupping my cheek. I would never forget her touch; it was burned into my flesh.

"Let's run away. I don't care where, as long as I'm with you."

I turned away from her, my heart breaking. "I already told you I can't. I have a loyalty to this club, and I must adhere to the consequences."

"Fuck those consequences!"

"I killed a brother!" I reiterated.

"It was in self-defense!" she shouted back, slowly lowering her voice. "He would have killed me."

"It's best you stay away from me, Catalina. Everything I've ever loved has been taken away from me. Before you get hurt, take whatever deal Jameson offers. He'll help you."

"I know this doesn't mean anything to you, but these last few weeks with you have meant everything to me."

I looked over at her. "You think this doesn't mean anything to me?"

I took two long strides, bringing me toe to toe with her. Sweeping a hand through her hair, I tugged her close, bringing her body flush to my own.

"I want you to know something, baby girl. I eat, breathe, and live for you Catalina. You're all I've thought about since I laid eyes on you. Fuck these weeks. You. You are my everything."
