“Who are you talking about?” Mephistopheles asked.

“Someone broke in?” Asmodeus snarled.

“We’re alone,” Legion snapped. “No one was here when she screamed.”

I gasped for air and raised my hands to hold them against my chest. I turned to face the three men and couldn’t look at them each for longer than a split second before I glanced around, hoping to find the demon.

“H-he, he, wanted to . . .” I swallowed hard and sniffled.

“Who?” Mephistopheles demanded. “Did you see someone?”

“I’ll check the cameras,” Asmodeus said before he turned away. He grabbed Mephistopheles’s upper arm as he whispered something into his ear, then shot me a worried glance over his shoulder before he walked away.

“What did he say to you?” I rushed out and timidly stepped toward Mephistopheles.

Legion reached out for me, then paused right before he touched me. I turned my head toward him, gazing up into his concerned eyes.

“What happened, kitten?”

I swallowed hard. My heart was in my throat, and my head felt light. I trembled all over, and it became hard to stand. Legion gently placed his hand on my elbow, holding me firmly. My ears began to ring, and black dots came into my vision.

“I’m going to . . . to . . .”

My eyes rolled into the back of my head, and I toppled over. Hands grabbed me before darkness took over.

Warmth surrounded me, and cool air fanned against my face. It was the perfect mixture that reminded me of home. The one good thing I had was a comfortable bed and fans that kept me cool on the hot summer days and nights.

I snuggled closer against the warmth. I had curled onto my side at some point and felt something hard and warm wrapped against my back.

Fingers trailed down my hair and then settled on my waist. Arms wrapped around me, and I didn’t know how many there were, but they held me against a rigid body.

“I know you’re awake, kitten,” Legion murmured into my ear.

I was too comfortable to move away from him. Blinking open my eyes, I focused on Legion, who laid on his side with his elbow on the mattress and his head resting on his knuckles.

A hand gently slid from my waist to my chubby stomach and grabbed my rolls. A shudder ran through me, and I squeezed my thighs together to stop the throbbing in my clit.

No one has ever grabbed my rolls.

I peeked over my shoulder and saw Asmodeus behind me, in the same position as Legion. He watched me with concern but also with a spark of lust in his blue eyes.

“What happened?” I asked as I turned back to look at Legion.

“That’s what we want to know,” Legion said. He flicked his eyes over my face, never stopping as he searched for the answer, as if it was written on my forehead.

What had happened and what I saw came back to me like a brick wall smacking me in the face. My heart jumped to my throat while my stomach knotted.

I brought my lower lip between my teeth and scraped my front teeth on it as I thought about how I would tell these men what I had. In my fallen country, having this disability and mental illness was a death sentence. They didn’t kill us but they didn’t help people like me. They saw me as athing, another hole that they could still breed. Once upon a time, they had medicine that helped our symptoms, but I never got that luxury. I had to find ways to deal with it.

A lot of people with this mental illness couldn’t handle it. They were so far gone in their alternate reality and panic that they killed themselves. If not for these demons making a deal with me, I would have killed myself.

“I have schizoaffective disorder.” I stared Legion right in the eye, waiting for him to look at me with disgust. Instead, his eyebrows drew together, and he frowned. I saw the confusion and knew I had to explain. “It’s schizophrenia and a mood disorder. I just so happen to have bipolar with it. I have hallucinations.”

Asmodeus trailed his fingers up my side. “So you saw something earlier?”

There was zero judgment in his question. I didn’t hear the disgust in his voice. I released a breath, relieved that he didn’t think I was some kind of monster.

I nodded. “Yeah.”
