My chest tightened, and I felt like my world and what I knew was falling apart and coming back together, but so much better. Even though I’d only known these men for such a short time, I felt like they had become my whole world. I couldn’t see myself living without them.

When clarity came back to me, I finally understood what Mephistopheles said. It wasn’t their fault, but I hoped they kept their promise that they would make it right.

Mephistopheles left after I calmed down. He promised to handle the problem and the mess the old rich men created in my fallen country. Legion and Asmodeus stayed behind with me, and we spent the time watching movies.

At first, I couldn’t concentrate, but after a while, I relaxed. Legion turned on a romance movie on Netflix. I thought it was a bit cheesy, but I enjoyed it.

In the middle of the second movie, that was more action and thriller, I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I fought my eyes for however long until I succumbed to sleep and slumped against Asmodeus.

When I woke up, the room was dark, with only a lamp on in the corner. The tv was on, but the volume was low. I was curled up against Asmodeus still, and my legs were on Legion’s lap.

They didn’t notice me awake. I cracked open my eyes, and at a quick glance around the room, I noticed Mephistopheles hadn’t returned. The heaviness of sleep made me close my eyes again as I tried to wake up.

“She’s been sleeping for a while now. Do you think it’s the medicine?” Asmodeus asked.

I pretended to be asleep, wanting to listen to their conversation.

Legion adjusted on his seat. His hand soothingly rubbed my calf. I didn’t know if it was for him or for me.

“It says the medicine can make her sleepy. So I wouldn’t be surprised. Ava had a hell of a life and a day. She needs the sleep,” Legion said with a sigh. “I don’t think she liked the movie you picked out.”

Asmodeus snorted. “Don’t lie, ass-wipe. She looked more repulsed by the chick flick you put on.”

“But she didn’t fall asleep during it.” I could hear the smirk in Legion’s voice that I knew he had on his face.

“Whatever.”

They fell silent and watched the movie for a few minutes.

“What are we going to do about sleeping arrangements?” Asmodeus asked.

“What do you mean? She’s sleeping with me,” Legion scoffed.

“Like hell she is. She’s sleeping with me,” Asmodeus snarled.

“So she can stay up all night listening to you snore? No way. She’s sleeping with me.”

“I don’t snore, asshole. I’m sure she’ll hate sleeping in your bedroom because of the god-awful sulfur smell that comes from there.”

“We talked about this, Asmodeus. There’s a portal to Hell in my closet. I can’t help the smell that comes from it when I go through it.”

“You sure it’s not your ass?” Asmodeus snickered.

I bit back a laugh at their bantering. I never thought demons would fight like humans, but here they were, fighting over me.

“Ha, ha, ha, shut up, fuck-wad. You’re the one who smells like a crusty ballsack and unwashed ass,” Legion snapped.

“You’re lucky I have a beautiful girl sleeping on me, or else I’d be kicking your ass right now,” Asmodeus said snidely.

Legion snorted. “Don’t use our girl like that.”

“Oh? Is that jealousy I hear in your voice?”

“Keep talking out of your ass, and I’m knocking you out,” Legion warned.

“Sorry, I didn’t hear you because I’ve got a fine-as-hell girl on me.”

“I’m warning you,” Legion said, his voice low and a threat evident in it.
