“I want no trouble, Principal, you have my word on that.” I turn away, stepping through the door into the stone-walled open-air corridor. This place is nothing like Black Frost was. The facilities seem lacking compared to the opulence I once attended.

“That’s not what I’m worried about.”

I spin at his whispered words, nearly falling over at the speed. My eyes widen as I find him standing near the door with a grave expression, and I quickly school my surprise. The urge to command him to explain himself is on the tip of my tongue when he slams the door with a finality I’m impressed with. The sound of the lock clicking into its place echoes around the stonework.

Well, looks like this discussion is over,my inner-voice snarks.

I turn on my heels and make my way with determined strides toward the parking lot, my mind racing as I’m lost in my own world, thoughts of the new school running rampant. My phone pings in my pocket, with a harsh breath I pull it out. A smile tips the edge of my lips as I see the group chat between me and my brother, and I scan the message. A bark of laughter escapes me as a message from Bo pops up too, telling me not to be a douche canoe. My fingers fly across the screen as I reply to them, my mind getting distracted easily with the banter that they throw at me.

“Watch it, asshole!”

Pain radiates through my right shoulder and I whip my head up. My gaze connects with the most mesmerizing eyes I have ever seen… a mix of green and amber, drawing me into their depths.

“What the fuck are you staring at, you imbecile?”

The sharp tone pulls me away from the eyes which held me captive, and I focus on the girl in front of me. My shoulders pull back and a smirk tips the corner of my mouth as I take in the gorgeous black-haired beauty. Her eyes scan the length of my body, and it feels like electricity has just been shot through my veins.

“Nothing, gorgeous,” I say with a purr, leaning in closer. “But you were the one to barrel into me.”

“You were in my way.” Her voice is like a melody as she looks at me in disgust.

I lift a brow in challenge, and a sound rumbles in the back of her throat. I have to fight back the chuckle that’s building. Oh, she’s a feisty one, I can tell by the set of her shoulders.

I like her.

“You fancy getting some food?” I ask, stepping closer. “You know, as a way of you apologizing.”

She steps closer to me, my size shadowing her as she tips her chin up to look at me.

“In your fucking dreams, Frost.”

KYLO

All eyes are on me as I pull up into the parking lot of my new school. I managed to get into the classes I wanted. Luckily, my grades from Black Frost helped. I was studying business there and I found I had a knack for it. But I added the extra bonus of psychology in, to understand myself and others better.

“Oh my god, who is that?” a high-pitched voice squeals as soon as I step out of the car, and I shudder internally as the girls eye me up. “Oh fuck, that’s a Frost.” My eyes narrow on the girls huddled together at the edge of the lot, eyes raking over me.

They don’t stop, no matter how much disgust I put into my expressions.

“Oh, Warrick isn’t going to like this one bit.”

I haven’t got a clue what the fuck they are on about, or who this Warrick is, but fuck me, was it too much to ask to come to a place where people don’t know who I am? I brush my palms down the front of my blazer, my features going back to the stoic look. A smirk tips the edge of my lip as their mouths drop open when I wink and take off across the quad. I take in my fill of the place, sniggering every now and then at the features which are a knock-off version of Black Frost. I’ll give this place their dues. They tried, but even the statue looks like a cheap knock-off.

“Oh my god, as I live and breathe. Is that Kylo Chambers?” an exaggerated imitation of a woman’s voice echoes behind me, my smirk turning into a smile as I turn to face my new companion. “Damn, dude, what the hell happened to you?” I burst out laughing at the only person I know in this place. Honestly, that’s the only reason I agreed to Broad Creek.

“How you doing, Brantley?” He dives at me, pulling me into a bro hug before jumping up and down like an excited toddler. I laugh, trying my hardest to pull myself out of the death grip he has on me. He’s bigger than he was the last time I saw him. He was always small compared to us growing up, but I’ll put that down to having a coke-head as a mother—who cared more about sniffing shit than she did about her only son.

“What the fuck are you doing here, Kylo?”

I pull my blazer off, the heat is killing me. It’s ridiculously hot for this time of year, and the material of the shirt and blazer has me feeling like I’m slowly roasting from the inside out, rolling up the cuffs of my sleeves, his eyes widen seeing the ink lining my arms and I smirk, we’ve both changed since the last time we saw each other.

“I stopped by for a visit,” I say with a cackle as he eyes me suspiciously. “What does it look like, you douche?” I throw my arms out wide with a huge grin as his eyes look over me, and I see the pink tinge spread across his cheeks.

“Damn, dude, you got hot.” He smirks. “When are you going to let me have a turn on that dick?” I burst into a full-blown belly laugh as I eye my childhood friend.

“How many times have I got to turn you down, B?” I snark, a devious smile spreading across my face as I see his cheeks turn pink with embarrassment, we’ve always been unlikely friends that people couldn’t understand, but the thing about Brantley is he’s always been open about his sexuality and I applaud him for the courage for it.
