A ferocious wind whips through the corridor, an almighty clap of thunder splits the air. They pull me back into the situation; I can hear people screaming as the mother of all storms shakes the building like it’s trying to pull it out of the foundations.

“Poison!”Kevin screams in my head.“Calm down.”

“I am calm,”I whimper.“He’s hurting me.”

“Accept the rejection, I don’t want to feel all these emotions because I rejected you!” Asher screams in my face. “My wolf is going nuts, you have to accept it.”

“I told your crazy arse I accept your rejection. Even though I know it’s complete bullshit!” I hiss in his face, wincing as I feel the tips of his claws break skin.

His eyes widen, his lashes fluttering like he’s waking from a trance. He looks down at me in disgust, letting go of me. I yelp as I fall, landing on my arse in a heap on the floor. The storm outside rages harder as tears escape the edges of my eyes.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” I scream, losing it completely. “I’m not some fucking toy you can terrorize for the fun of it! Stay the fuck away from me.”

I try to scramble to my feet but I slip against the wet old stone of the floor. I land on my hands and knees, pain radiating through my chest like something is trying to tear its way out of me. I try to pant through the pain as a scream tears its way up my throat.

“P, please, you have to calm down!”Kevin pleads.

“What’s happening to me?”

CHAPTEREIGHT

Where am I? My vision clears, showing me the area surrounding me.

I’ve gotta say, all this passing out and blurry vision stuff is beginning to get old. This Academy is clearly messing with me somehow. My eyes widen as I take in the barren area; there’s no grass, nothing. Even trees that clearly once stood tall are now broken and charred.

“Help us, please?”

I spin in a slow circle as the voices I’ve heard once before beg me to help them.

“Hello?” I shout, my hand covering my eyes to try and protect them from the wind whipping across my face. “Is anybody here?”

The voices grow louder, their intent becoming clearer as I try to move away from the weird black mist I can see off to my left. I look up and I can’t believe it, amongst the greying sky there are two moons. One looks like the one I see most nights, the other is a weird blue-green colour.

“What’re you doing here?”

I whip around at the sound of the voice, my mouth dropping when I see the hooded person that helped me.

“Where the hell am I?” I ask, looking around as a feeling of dread washes over me.

“No place you should be, Poison, you need to stay away from here.”

I can tell now by the voice he must be a man, but the burning thing is… he knows my name.

A screech rips through the air and a shadow starts to cover the dusty hard ground. My whole body begins to tremble as a massive winged beast covers over the hill top.

“Get out of here!” he commands, his eyes bouncing between the creature and I.

“I don’t know how I got here,” I shout back, my legs trembling becoming more obvious. “What the hell is that thing?”

“A dragon,” he says, looking back at the creature.

I’ve never seen a dragon fully shifted before, but that doesn’t look like anything I’ve seen pictures of. This is like a nothing I’ve ever seen. Its huge wings have tears in the membrane, its colouring is a mottled grey.

“What’s wrong with it?” I ask, not taking my eyes off it.

“Run,” he bellows as the creature’s eyes connect with us. I freeze as a screech of excitement from the beast comes from its mouth. “Fucking run!”

He grabs hold of my wrist, pulling me in the opposite direction. My tendons scream in protest as he pulls me after him. My legs move on their own accord to keep up with his pace. His head is wiping left and right looking for something.
