He’s intimidating, but he looks so much like his son, it’s tricking my mind into finding him incredibly hot. That, and the fact that he quite simply is stunning.

Marcella chuckles. “Like you would have come for brunch, dear. And let’s face it, you’re scary. I was trying to put Sarah at ease before you traumatize her.”

He chuckles, unbothered. His eyes return to mine. “Sarah, I take it.” The mercurial orbs take me in, lingering on every curve. I feel scrutinized. It’s not leering as much as analyzing. “Lovely,” he concludes.

I wish I could lie to myself. I wish I could say I’m disgusted. But my core trembles, and I feel heat rush between my legs in anticipation.

“Like one of your sons could chooseanythingbut lovely. They all have exceptional taste,” Marcella boasts proudly.

“Why wouldn’t they? They were raised by an exquisite women.”

They exchange a look that feels too personal for me to keep watching, so I glance back at Marius.

His parents are incredibly sweet together, which is downright confusing.

That said, his father’s forbidding, magnetic presence is exactly what I would have pictured. Everything in the way he moves, talks and holds himself makes it clear that Eriks Goltz is the focal point every time he enters a room.

He’s dangerous, he knows it, and he likes it.

Eriks crosses the room and leans in for a kiss on his wife’s bright red lips before turning to us again. “Well, Sarah, if you’re ready, I’ll take you up now.”

On that note, he straightens up and turns on his heels, leaving without a single backward glance to see if I follow.

I need to, I know that. I won’t know where to go otherwise. But for some reason, I’ve lost the ability to move.

Marius nudges me a little and stands, bringing both of us to our feet as I was sitting on him.

“I’ll tag along.”

His father does look back now. “I don’t think so, Marius. Your lovely Sarah has been coddled by you long enough. Let us see if she can stand on her own.”

Although he wasn’t looking, he noticed. He saw me freeze. And he’s looking down at me for it.

I can’t help but lower my gaze.

By the doorframe, Eriks hasn’t lost his outwardly charming demeanor, but his voice is ice. “She trespassed on our land. She filmed you—unknowingly or otherwise. And now, we’re to spend a fortune to protect her from her own former dalliances. Shewillprove herself first.”

“Honey, don’t be cruel,” Marcella admonishes.

“Cruel would be reminding my son that I can cut him off if he persists in making dubious choices.”

He…hates me. He hates me for his son, and I can’t even say a thing to defend myself from all the accusations, because they are completely true.

Marius’s fists tighten. “Go ahead. Disown me.”

Now Eriks laughs. “No doubt you believe your grandmother will still give you your share of her father’s fortune. Attach yourself to a PR drama in the waiting, and let me assure you: she won’t. Even if she wanted to, my grandfather’s will would prevent it. You’d be left with nothing, boy.”

“Then I guess I’ll be like all the other lawyers who start off with nothing.”

“And you think that lovely girl and her huge tits will want you then?”

“Stop.” I’ve heard enough.

I badly want to tellMidasto go fuck himself, but I’m not letting this asshole disown Marius.

“I’ll go,” I say through clenched teeth. “It’s fine. Don’t fight over nothing.”

The two men are still in a standoff, neither of them moving. So I do it for them.
