“What did you do!” I demanded in panic. “Oh my God—you’re my stalker, and a fucking serial killer.” I tried the door again. “Help! Help!” I screamed.

Hot pain flared in the back of my head, and everything went dark.

CHAPTER NINETEEN

Eden

I grumbled and rolled over, wondering why my alarm hadn’t gone off. My mouth was dry. What did I do last night that made me feel so crummy?I laid there with my eyes closed, head throbbing, and tried to remember.

When I finally put the pieces together, I gasped and sat up. My eyes flew open, and the room spun. Everything hit me at once.

My uncle. Pedophile. Serial rapist and murderer.

Wincing, I touched the back of my head tentatively. There was a large, tender knot. The surrounding hair was clumpy and sticky. I’d been bleeding.

I couldn’t believe that bastard had hit me.

I took in my surroundings. I was back in my old bedroom, although the iron bars across the window seemed to be a new edition. Those weren’t there when I left for college.

Wait. This wasn’t my room.

It had my furniture and possessions from my childhood home in Florida, but this was not the family home. This was not the actual room I grew up in.

I climbed to my feet and moved over to the window. I tried shaking the bars to see how secure they truly were. They were pretty solid.

The door swung open, and I yelped, spinning away from the window.

“What are you trying to do, pumpkin?” he rumbled menacingly.

“N-nothing,” I stammered, trying to hold my ground and not look guilty.

“You were doing something.”

He was fucking crazy. “I—I was… j-just—”

“Just trying to get away from me?” he interrupted. “Again?” His voice rose, and he looked hurt.

“N-n-no. Never,” I backpedaled.Kidnapping 101, keep the captor happy.“I was just looking out, thinking about mother.”

He narrowed his gaze and pulled out the gun from behind his back.

I really didn’t want to ask, as so much horror had already been revealed, but I had to know the truth. I had to know. “Are you the reason my mom is missing?”

He chuckled like a movie villain. “No. Not me. Though I have a feeling it might have been your professor friend. After all, it ishisname on her bail.”

“No—he wouldn’t.”

My uncle shrugged. “You obviously have a type.” He chuckled lowly. “Don’t think I didn’t notice the way you looked at me. You like dominant, dangerous men, Eden.”

I held my stomach to keep from upchucking at our feet.

“Take off your clothes, Eden.” He waved his gun to gesture to my body. “Be a good girl. Let me see you.”

I swallowed hard.No.No.I couldn’t make myself obey. I stood rooted to the spot with my hands balled into fists. I felt my eyes welling. I was trapped. Trapped with the man that hurt Brianna.

“Did Mom know?” I whispered.

“Take your clothes off. Now!”
