“Morning. You’re up earlier than I expected,” I say and watch as she blows on her coffee before she takes a sip.

“I couldn’t sleep well. Nothing against this place because it’s really nice, just the mattress is a little too stiff for me. I knew I should’ve packed my body pillow.”

“Ah, the amazing body pillow. I have one of those at home. I always regret leaving it there.”

“Yes, you need one for your apartment. It’s a necessity. And if I remember correctly, when I slept in your bed, it wasn’t soft enough.” Lennox eats a piece of her omelet.

The memory rushes back to that night. She was drunk and insisted she sleep in my bed. We never really talked about it, letting it kind of wash over.

“Better than the couch in my place. Rhett brought that old thing up from Florida. I’m surprised it even made it.” Now she knows I definitely slept on the couch that night and nothing happened. But what about last night?

The question is bothering me, swirling around and around in my head, burning a fire through my veins.

Lennox’s mouth moves, but I don’t hear the words. I’m assaulted by clips of last night pushing their way through my head.

Us ripping each other’s clothes off.

Fucking up against the bathroom wall.

It was the hottest sex of my life.

I shift in my seat and swallow over the sudden lump in my throat. My dick stirs in my pants, and I will it away. Quick, think of the unsexiest thing ever.

“Holden? Hello? Earth to Holden?” Lennox waves her hand in front of my face and laughs.

“Sorry.” I chuckle and try to brush it off, though the heat from my cheeks is hard to ignore. “I zoned out for a second. What were you saying?”

“Just about how couches suck to sleep on. Anyway, what are your plans today?”

“I’m not sure yet, you?” Well, I guess she doesn’t remember last night, or is she just flat-out pretending it didn’t happen?

“Everleigh and Maia want to go tubing. They should be down here soon. Want to join us?”

“Yeah, that sounds like fun. I just need to run upstairs and change. I’ll see if anyone else wants to go, but I think most of them are skiing or plan to.”

Lennox nods and pops a piece of bacon in her mouth. “They are. Maybe I’ll work up the nerve to try. But that’s a big fat maybe.”

“There’s still a week to go on this trip. You’ve got plenty of time to try. Is Everleigh feeling better?”

“Yes, finally. But I doubt she wants to drink again for a while.”

“Makes sense. I don’t know if I want to either after last night. I barely remember it.”

“Me either. I do remember one thing, though.”

My back stiffens. The sex. She remembers the sex…

“That delicious drink you made me.”

I let out a breath, and I don’t know if it’s relief or disappointment.

“After that, it’s all a blur.” She continues. “But I did see a condom wrapper in the bathroom trash. Which makes me wonder if Maia…” She trails off, and then suddenly, she gasps, and her hand flies over her mouth, her eyes going wide.

The seconds of silence stretch on like hours.

“Um, Holden…did we hook up?”

So my memoriesareright. She remembers it too.
