She taps her chin as she side-eyes me, but her grin reveals she’s kidding. “Hmm, are you trying to kidnap me?”

I chuckle. “How did you figure me out? No really, Landon showed it to me. It’s a couple of towns over, but it’s worth the ride. We can take my truck.” I wink.

Lennox’s cheeks flush, and I know she’s remembering exactly what we did in that truck last night. “Okay. I’m down.”

I knew she would be. She’s always ready for an adventure. “I’ll meet you downstairs in ten?”

She nods, and I see myself out. Upstairs in my own place, no one is home either. Weird. Usually one of my roommates is hanging around. I quickly change, put on deodorant and a squirt of cologne, and brush my teeth.

When I get down to the lobby, she’s already there waiting, looking perfect in her dress and jean jacket.

“Hey there, pretty lady. You must be waiting on a fine gentleman.”

Her face lights up when she sees me, and her eyes run up and down the length of my body. It turns me on more than I’d like to admit. “Fine, maybe. Gentleman? Questionable.”

I elbow her playfully in the side as I hold the door open for her. It’s a gorgeous day outside, the air a comfortable temperature, and the sky a clear blue.

Lennox slides on a pair of sunglasses as we walk to my truck, still parked in the same spot as last night. I unlock the doors and hold hers open for her. When I offer her my hand, she waves me away and jumps up easily despite her sandals and dress.

She looks at the seat next to her and then grins at me, while tipping her head down so her sunglasses fall just enough for me to see her eyes. “Damn…as drunk as I was you’d think I’d remember nothing, but the memories on replay in my head…shit, I don’t think they could be forgotten.”

“Such flattery, my little firework.” I wink and close her door, hurrying over to my side and sliding in. I start the engine and turn to face her, giving her my best sexy smile. “I can’t stop the memories, either.”

“You know what? Go us. We fucking rock.” She puts out her fist, and I bump it with my own.

“Us nerds have to stick together, am I right?” I ask as I buckle my seat belt and put the truck in drive, cackling the entire time.

“Whatever you need to tell yourself pal.” She pats my hand and we both laugh.

The restaurant isn’t too busy since it's still early afternoon and the dinner rush hasn’t started. It’s an American steakhouse and my mouth starts watering as soon as I pull into the parking lot.

“Ohhh yes, I love steak. And burgers. Mmm and baked potatoes.”

“Someone’s hungry,” I tease and park my truck.

“Yes, because someone caused me to work up a big appetite.”

“Oh yeah? What were you doing?”

“Ha, wouldn’t you like to know? But too bad for you, a lady never tells. Now feed me.”

“Yes, of course of course. Wait right there. Let me get the door for you.” I open her door and offer her my hand once again. This time, she takes it.

“Are you sure this isn’t a date, mister?” Len gives me that look of hers with the narrow side-eye, and it makes me laugh. She needs to stop being adorable already.

“Don’t worry. That’s not my style. Besides, when you already have the goods…”

She gasps and punches my arm lightly all while giggling. “You’re about to owe me a lot of dates.”

I want to say something like fine by me, but I keep my mouth shut and lead her inside, laughing the joke off.

Our dinner is delicious, and after we’re so stuffed we barely can move, I drive us down to the shore and park by the large stone wall, separating the beach from the parking lot.

The waves crash over the sand, and we watch the sunset over the horizon together.

When the light in the sky turns dark, we have a repeat of the night before in my truck.

Yet tonight, I can’t stop staring into her eyes.
