I snickered. “Eh, same.”

Raven snorted while Bella guffawed. Additional chuckles rang behind us. It didn’t matter that our vows were taking forever. I was enjoying this moment. I almost didn’t want it to end.

But I wanted to hear those magical words.

“What beautiful vows,” Raven praised. “Now I’ll ask you, Sadie. Do you take Andres to be your mate and lawfully wedded husband?”

I smiled. “I do.”

“Andres, do you take Sadie to be your mate and lawfully wedded wife?”

Andres beamed. “I do.”

Raven held up her hands and exclaimed, “Then by the power invested in me as the alpha of Silverdawn, I pronounce you married for the rest of your days. You may now share a kiss to signify this union.”

Cheers broke the sound barrier as I rushed to kiss my new husband. Elation coursed through me as he dipped at the hip and deepened the kiss, inviting the crowd to grow rowdier. I let him hold me up and enjoyed the affection. The attention was going right to my head, and while I knew I’d get dizzy soon, I didn’t want to end this kiss. I didn’t want to end this beautiful day.

As soon as Andres stood me up, I wobbled on my heels. He caught my waist and ushered me back down the aisle, both of us ducking against the ribbons people were tossing over our heads. Through the house and out the front door we dashed to the car that was waiting for us.

The best part of a Turner wedding was leaving the reception to the family—which let me get directly to the honeymoon.

Andres slammed the door shut and scooped me into his arms. He held me tight as the car took off, leaving behind the sound of cheers and music. I kissed my husband over and over, rolling the thought around in my mind that I was now a married woman.

“My husband,” I teased while he played with the straps of my dress. “I can’t believe I can say that now.”

“I can’t believe your parents let us get out of the reception.”

I chuckled while settling into the seat next to him. “I never liked parties much, but I know my mother wants to entertain everyone.”

“I can’t argue with that.”

“We’ll owe them a party when we get back.”

He grinned while cupping my face. “Ah, then we should take our time getting back, shouldn’t we?”

Giggles burst from me as he kissed my lips, my cheeks, and my neck. Desire took hold when his kisses turned to impassioned nips that sent shockwaves through my body. I caught his hands before they could dip under my thick skirts.

“Not here,” I warned. “Wait until we get to the bed and breakfast.”

He sighed as she slumped into the seat. “But that’s thirty minutes away.”

“Sounds like someone needs to learn a little bit more aboutcontrol.”

His eyes narrowed and that dashing grin turning him into that dangerously handsome devil who seemingly stole my heart without me realizing it. “Who am I to deny my wife such a request?”

“I have my husband to thank for his patience then.”

The two of us shared a laugh. My cheeks burned and my sides ached from laughter, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. There was another purpose to life than work and sleep, and I had found it in Andres. Hopefully, I would also find it in the passion of teaching again.

On the way to the bed and breakfast, we quietly held hands and stole kisses. We chatted here and there about our plans, but largely remained quiet, enjoying the privacy we were granted so soon after our nuptials. We were truly lucky to get away with that kind of request, but the truth was that I wouldn’t have taken any opposition from my mother. I had a feeling she knew that too.

I was just happy to have my husband to myself.

The car pulled up to the curb of the Victorian house and we stepped out onto the sidewalk, smiling when passersby stopped to congratulate us on our gorgeous day. We checked in, headed up to the second floor, and settled easily into our beautifully rustic room complete with a giant suite, a fireplace, and a bathroom with a claw-foot tub.

I faced him then, peeling my veil from my curls and letting it fall to the ground. “Kiss me right here.” I tapped my shoulder and gave him my best pout. “Please, sir.”

Andres plucked the strap of my silk dress from my shoulder. He planted his lips where I had pointed, taking his time to decorate my skin. “You’re finally mine.”
