“You released your horde of prey?” I asked, an eyebrow cocked.
“I have.”
I continued my quizzical stare.
“I doubt Clara would approve of such barbarism after we asked them to destroy the obelisk.”
“Those two things aren’t comparable, but I understand what you’re saying.”
“How is she?”
“Larisa said her dress is stunning.”
“It’s not the dress—but the woman underneath it.” He grinned. “And after tonight, she’s all mine.”
“After you wed, Viper will be the only one left.”
“And it’ll stay that way,” Cobra said. “That guy is too stiff for a woman—and not in a good way.”
I chuckled.
He chuckled too. “You and Larisa are good?”
“We worked it out.”
“You sexed her up like I suggested?” He winked.
“I always sex her up.”
“Then maybe you got better at it.” He clapped me on the shoulder again, and then we walked up to the palace. “Father here yet?”
“No.”
“I suspect he’ll be here tomorrow. Not looking forward to that.”
“Nor am I.” It would be strange to come face-to-face, to fight beside him as an ally after he’d stabbed me in the back. I wasn’t sure how a conversation would even transpire or if I would accept it if he did apologize.

When I returned to the bedchambers, Larisa sat on the couch with Fang, the two of them playing a round of cards.
“Why do you play if you always lose?”
Larisa put down her card and looked at me. “Ouch.”
“Sorry.”
“I’m trying to get better.” She looked at Fang across from her. “But apparently, Fang is a mastermind.” She set down the rest of her cards then walked to me, wearing a black dress that looked good on her sexy body. Her eyes lit up when she stepped closer me, like she hadn’t seen me in days rather than hours, and she kissed me like I was her one and only.
I gripped her close and squeezed her ass hard.
She smiled against my lips before she pulled away. “Has Cobra returned?”
“Just arrived.”
“So we’ll have the wedding tonight?”
“Yes.”
