The night of our wedding was spent in erotic bliss. I made love to her over and over, like it was the first time I’d ever had her. I’d let her sleep for hours in between, only to stir her with my hot kisses and anxious hands. Words weren’t spoken. The only thing we exchanged were touches and long stares.

When morning arrived, it felt as if only a few minutes had passed. The exhaustion finally hit, and we both slept for hours on end. I was the one who woke up first, finding her cuddled into my body as if a winter storm raged outside.

My fingers stroked her hair as I stared at her.

It took fifteen hundred years…but it finally happened. I found my lover, my equal, my wife.

She opened her eyes soon afterward, immediately squinting because sunlight peeked through the breaks in the curtains. “What time is it?”

“Probably noon.”

She ran her fingers through her hair, the covers slipping away and displaying her sexy tits. “Last night was fun.” She looked at me with a sleepy gaze and a playful smile on her lips.

“It was.” I moved toward her, rolling her to her back and sliding between the soft flesh of her thighs. “I think our morning will be even better.”

The day passed in the blink of an eye, even though we didn’t leave the bedroom. Toward the evening, we shared a shower before we got back into bed, resuming the fuck-a-thon. In my darkest times, I used to spend days at the tavern, fucking all the women who asked for it, lost in the mindlessness of sex.

But now I had that with a single woman.

The evening passed and the next morning arrived, and not a single person came to our door in that time. Viper ruled over Grayson in my stead, and Fang kept himself occupied and didn’t disturb me with his presence or his mind.

It was time to return to ordinary life, even though the honeymoon phase seemed to be endless. But I had my responsibilities, and now she did too. “The coronation will be this evening, in front of all the citizens of Grayson. You’ll pledge your life and loyalty to the Kingsnake Vampires.”

“What do I need to do to prepare?”

“Look hot.”

She gave a slight smile before she drank her coffee, even though it had to be midday. “Are there lines I need to remember?”

“No. Viper will grant you the title and hand you the crown.”

“I have to wear a crown?” she asked in surprise. “You don’t wear one.”

“My sword is my crown.”

“Then can I have a sword instead?”

“I think you’d look sexy with a crown.” Golden and adorned with diamonds, it would look beautiful upon her already beautiful head.

She gave a slight smile again. “I’m not really the crown-wearing kind of gal.”

“Alright. A sword it is.”

She smiled in victory.

“I have work that requires my attention.” I rose to my feet and pushed in the chair, leaving her alone with her coffee and meager breakfast. The food didn’t satisfy the hunger, but it satisfied our taste buds. A trip down memory lane, it was a reminder of our time being human, the things we once enjoyed.

“What requires your attention?”

I didn’t want to spoil the lightness in our hearts by telling her the truth, so I kept it to myself. “I need to speak with my father. I haven’t spoken to him since before the wedding. He’s probably eager to return to Crescent Falls, in case Aurelias has returned.”

“Should I join you?”

“No,” I said. “I need to speak to him in private.” I was married to a woman who could read my emotions so well, who was privy to the things I tried to hide. I could close my mind, but that was harder when she knew my mind as well as I did.

She stared at me, seeming suspicious, but let it go. “I’ll see you later, then.”
