He laughed drunkenly. “Oh, I know. I knew before you got here I was going to go off quick.”

“Same.” I kissed his shoulder, then carefully pulled out, making us both gasp. Tanner turned around and leaned against the wall, grinning up at me as he draped his arms over my shoulders.

I grinned back and leaned in to claim his mouth. Yeah, the sex had been quick, but nothing about his kiss or his touch made me think he was secretly disappointed. I sure wasn’t. Not when it had been that hot and frantic, and not when we had the whole night ahead of us.

“I could go for a shower,” he murmured. “Join me?”

“Uh-huh.” I kissed him again. “Sounds perfect.”

And it did… right up until we were in his bathroom, a couple of synapses fired, and I realized we’d be getting naked.

I’d already seen every glorious inch of Tanner’s body, but he hadn’t seen mine. And stripping everything off while we were fooling around suddenly sounded a lot less intimidating than doing it like this. There was nothing to distract him. Nothing to keep him preoccupied with something other than looking me up and down the way I had him.

On the other hand, maybe that would be less of an emotional dick punch than having him stop in the middle of sex to tell me I wasn’t attractive enough for us to continue with—

“Hey.” Tanner reached up and touched my face. “You okay?”

“I, um…” I couldn’t look at him. “We, uh…”

“Isaiah?” He ran his thumb along my jaw. “What’s wrong?”

In that moment, I wanted to tell him, but I also felt pathetic as hell. We were grown men. We’d already had sex once. I wasn’t going to turn into a shy teenager, even if I was about to take off my clothes in front of someone who was—and routinely saw—a sculpted, naked athlete.

I cleared my throat, shook my head, and met his gaze as I forced a smile. “I’m good. Just haven’t, um… Haven’t been naked with anyone in a while.”

Surprise registered on his face, but it was quickly replaced by a sly grin, which I didn’t expect. Nor did I expect him to slide his hands up my chest and purr, “Somehow I don’t think that’s going to be an issue anymore.”

Then his mouth was on mine, and the heat of his naked body through my clothes sent my self-consciousness scattering. Oh, it was still there in the back of my mind, but as I wrapped my arms around him, I suddenly didn’t want anything between us. And hell, even if he hadn’t seen me undressed yet, I hadn’t exactly been concealing my body type. He wasn’t stupid. He knew that when these clothes came off, he wouldn’t be getting Michelangelo’sDavid.

“So,” he murmured between kisses. “Shower?”

“Mmhmm. Good idea.”

His lips curved into a grin against mine, and he pushed my shirt up and off. Then his arms were around me again before we started working on my belt and jeans.

And then…

There I was.

Naked. Against Tanner Jeffries.

His hands slid all over me. His kiss was languid but deep and full of promise that this night was not nearly over.

When he finally stepped back and reached in to turn on the shower, I had a flash of renewed worry. Maybe he liked how I felt, but would he like how I looked?

With the water running, he faced me again. He let his gaze drift up and down.

And when his eyes locked with mine again, the heat and desire hadn’t cooled in the slightest. As he pulled me back into a kiss, his touch was as eager as before.

Holy fuck.

I’m naked, and Tanner Jeffries still wants me.

Chapter 16

Tanner

Fantasies could be a double-edged sword. They were hot as hell, but they could also raise expectations that reality just couldn’t live up to. Even if the sex was spectacular, there’d still be a note of disappointment because of the unobtainable fantasy.
