“You can always go into the bathroom and use your hand. I remember once upon a time, you excelled at going solo in a shower.” Her laughing is now low and sexy, tormenting me even more, but at least I know it’s doing the same to her. I watch her pushing her thighs together. Oh yeah, she feels it too. It won’t be long, and she will be back in my arms where she belongs.

“Not fucking funny! And for your information, that was the last time I needed my hand. Because I have this woman in my life now who is insatiable, and it takes all I’ve got to keep up with her.”

“In your dreams, big boy. You are just as bad, and I love it!” Her voice a little hoarse with sexual frustration like mine.

Thank God Ashton chose now to knock and poke his head in the room.

“Hey, Cassie, can I borrow Ghost for a minute?” I don’t like the look on his face.

“Sure, he could use a few rounds of boxing to take away a certain bit of pent-up frustration.” Her giggle gives us away, and I’m sure the rock-hard cock that is pushing at the front of my pants will confirm his thoughts. Although the non-reaction from him has it deflating quickly.

“Okay.” His blunt reply is all I need to know something isn’t right. Normally he would have been all over giving me shit about a hard-on over my wife in a hospital room.

Walking back to her and kissing her like I’m about to fuck her hard, I leave her panting as I head to the door.

“Won’t be long, and I’ll be just outside the door.” I close it with a smile on my face, watching her still squashing her thighs together, but as soon as the door is shut, everything changes.

“What’s wrong?” My voice is brash and straight to the point.

“We have a problem.” Ashton is in full work mode, I can tell by his body language.

“No shit, spit it out.” I don’t have any patience for details, just straight facts.

“Susan, who we have working intelligence while you’re with Cassie, has found a cut in the security tape from the recovery room. Someone else was on that feed and looped a few minutes over again, while the current feed was hidden.”

“What the fuck!” My teeth are grinding. We were watching it live! How could we miss this? Well, we thought we were, but there must have been a few seconds of a delay.

“They’re good, Ghost. There were two cuts in the transmission, but she’s managed to retrieve them.”

“They know she’s here.” I can hardly speak. The hair on the back of my neck is up, and I can feel the instinct of wanting to hurt anyone who gets near her sitting just below the surface.

“It’s worse than that. You need to see this.” Ashton shoves a tablet into my hand, shielding the screen to keep it private, but I’m afraid to press play. As my finger hovers over the button, I realize it’s go time for what we have planned. I need Jason taken down, now.

No more waiting!

“Fuck,” is all I can say as it plays out in front of me.

ChapterTwenty-Three

GHOST

“Are you sure it’s him?” I ask again, keeping my voice low as I replay the video for the fourth time. The image isn’t perfect, and with the surgical scrubs on, the mask and the hat, you can’t see a lot of his face.

“Susan has done the facial recognition. Even with all the gear on, with what we can see of his face, his eyes are a perfect match.” Ashton is looking at me with pity, and I hate that.

“How the fuck did he find her? Or get the fuck near her?”

I want answers, and I want them now.

I knew I should have been the one on the computers, but I can’t be everywhere. Reading my mind, Ashton replies to my questions.

“I’m on it. We always knew something like this was a risk. It would have been more of a surprise if we got away with it. Be honest with yourself. You can’t do everything, Ghost. Keeping her hidden for this long was a fucking miracle.”

“But I should have known this. Why the fuck didn’t I see this information on him on the dark web?” I’m questioning myself, that every single thing I’ve done over the last seven years has been for nothing.

“Maybe because he’s old-school, and he doesn’t exist on there. Like I said, they’re good, but we’re better. Trust yourself, don’t let any bullshit doubt creep in now. We need you now more than ever. Let’s nail these bastards and get Cassie her life back.”

I stand frozen, looking down at his image on the tablet in my hand.
