The closer he got to home the more relaxed he became. He slowed down and Sage’s grip finally eased.

She’d been quiet the entire ride when he’d been expecting a screamer. Not that he minded screaming, but while driving it was annoying as fuck.

He should’ve known better. Sage seemed like the type who would do anything to avoid showing weakness. Dante knew that quality all too well.

Suddenly, and over the rumble of his biker, he heard the wail of blaring rock music.

Dante was just in time.

Turning right instead of left, he drove up Sage’s long driveway and pulled in front of her house. It was a two-story brick Victorian with white lattice trim and green shutters. The nearby barn was in good shape too, though it could use a re-finish. Still, the place was nice. Not as nice as the Hellraisers’ compound, but Dante could see why Sage had bought the farm.

Privacy, peace, and no nosy neighbors.

Dante slowed to a crawl and then stopped the engine.

He turned and watched as Sage removed the helmet and shook out her hair. She looked like something out of one of those ridiculous shampoo commercials, and suddenly he heard low, sexy music in his head.

Only, Sage would be standing naked, and her hair would slither over her amazing tits…

What the fuck is wrong with you tonight? Shut that shit down.

“Too fast?” Dante asked.

“Yeah, but I got used to it. I’m not afraid of speed.”

“What are you afraid of?”

Her eyes shuttered and she shook her head. “Thanks again for the lift home. Have fun tonight.”

She offered him the helmet and he reached down and tucked it into his side pack.

“I plan to,” He smiled at her. “See you around.”

“Monday.”

He gave a nod and a wave and gunned the engine, dirt and gravel spinning out behind him.

Dante didn’t look back, but he glanced in one of his mirrors. Sage was standing on her porch, hands on her hips, watching him drive off.

The power pose.

She looked fierce, like a warrior about to head into battle.

It hit him just then that she was fighting something. What kind of battle, Dante wasn’t sure but he has his suspicions.

Not my business.

He drove back down the driveway and crossed the road to the Hellraisers’s front gate. After he entered the club’s passcode, the iron gates opened, and he sped into the compound.

Most members’ bikes were already parked, so he slid into an empty spot on the far end. The heavy beat of the music vibrated through his body.

“Bout time you showed up,” Sonny yelled out as he walked down the driveway. “Meeting with Gage in his office, right now.”

Dante got off his bike and quickly jogged to meet Sonny halfway.

“I had to drop off our neighbor at her farm.”

“Why?”
