“Lay her on the floor,” Jesse commanded as he grabbed a towel from the nearby rack and placed it on the tile. The demand shook Dante out of his anxious headspace. “Xander, get me something to put under her legs.”
Dante gently laid her down and watched as Jesse felt for Sage’s pulse.
“It’s fast but strong,” Jesse explained as he tapped Sage’s face gently. “Sage, wake up.”
Xander returned with pillows, and they placed them under Sage’s legs.
“Come on, baby, come back to me,” Dante urged, holding her limp hand, squeezing tight. “Wake up, dammit.”
Sage’s eyelashes fluttered and she finally opened them.
Hazel eyes stared back at him, so bright and so beautiful that Dante bit his lip in relief. “You fucking scared the shit out of me, woman.”
“What… h-happened?” she asked as she looked around.
Other crew members were now crowded in the hall just outside the bathroom, staring down at them from the doorway.
“She’s fine. It’s all right. Everything’s okay,” Jesse announced, then stood up. “I’m going to give you guys a minute alone. I’ll get her an electrolyte drink.”
Sage looked at Dante and the sheer terror in her gaze shocked him.
“Oh God, the phone number,” Sage whispered.
“You recognized it.”
“Yes.”
Fresh tears erupted and spilled down her cheeks.
“It’s okay, baby. It’ll be all right. Just tell me.”
Dante helped her sit up and she clung to him, nearly causing him to topple over.
“It belongs to…I don’t know if I can even say it.”
Dante cupped her tear-stained face in his hands.
“You can tell me anything. Anything.”
Sage was shaken so hard, Dante didn’t know what to do or say.
“It belongs…to my brother.”

It took a lot to knock Dante on his ass.
As a biker, and a marine, he’d seen, and heard, it all.
But finding out that Sage’s brother was somehow connected to Raven, to the Midnight crew, to this whole mess, was a shock to the system.
No wonder Sage had fainted…
“Are you absolutely certain?” he asked her.
She nodded. “Can you help me up?”
