“Where’s Blane now?” Sonny asked.

“He lives in B.C., but he travels to Alberta regularly for business as a corporate attorney.”

“He’s a lawyer?” Avery commented. “Then he isn’t stupid. How are you gonna get him to talk?”

“Money,” Sage replied. “He never has enough. And his gambling addiction is getting worse. I think the best thing is for me to tell him I’m selling up the farm and giving him half of it, he just needs to sign some paperwork. He’ll probably take the first flight out if it means getting his hands on more equity.”

“Get that done,” Gage demanded. “Meantime, we’re gonna get armed and we’re gonna attack. I want everyone - except Xander and Jesse - to suit up and meet me in the barn in an hour. Since Padraig and Raven are the two members that run the show, I want them brought back here. We’ll get rid of the others or as many as we can.”

Cheers erupted and Gage nodded.

Sage glanced over at Dante, and he finally met her head on. There was a hardness to his gaze, so unlike how he looked at her this morning. Or last night. It made her shiver, but she refused to look away. She wasn’t afraid of him or his club.

And it was too late to turn back.

The Hellraisers were going to kill the Midnight crew and judging by everyone’s expression, there was no hesitation amongst them.

Sage was now an accessary to murder. Did that make her as bad as Padraig?

Possibly. But she felt no remorse or regret.

Maybe she had more in common with Dante than she first realized…

Sage had known from the start that seeking vengeance meant compromising her morals. And it turned out, she was just as bloodthirsty as the crew around her.

If she knew then what she knew now, would she do it again?

She answered her question without hesitation.

In a heartbeat.

DANTE

Getting ready for battle was second nature to Dante.

Leaving Sage behind, though, was not.

Would she even want to look at him after today? Knowing that he was a killer?

But she was also complicit. Now that she was in with them, she couldn’t avoid the reality of this life. And her life as she knew it would never be the same.

Dante was pretty sure his wouldn’t be either.

He was standing in the barn, his bulletproof vest on, his knives sheathed, his guns loaded.

Surrounded by his brothers, all ready to fight, you could feel the tension, and the testosterone was off the charts.

Usually, he was calm in these situations, but he felt unsettled today. He’d killed before and would again, but this felt different.

Dante never felt like he had much to lose before. He fought hard, lived hard, played hard.

He never worried about coming home because he had no real home to come back to.

Until the Hellraisers.

Untilher.
