Sage’s stomach rolled but she took a final sip of her coffee to swallow her bile down.

Along with her rage.

“Let’s get to the bank,” Sage announced. “We can take my car, or you can follow me.”

“I’ll follow. I got another stop to make after I’m done with you.”

Sage knew that Blane meant Raven. Oh, he’d see Raven all right.

In the bunker.

“I’m the SUV right there.” She pointed to her vehicle parked out front.

Sage threw a twenty-dollar bill on the table.

Blane stood up and all but ran out to his car. Sage followed at a more leisurely pace and got in her vehicle. After starting up the engine, she tapped on her ear pod, pretending she was making a phone call.

“We’re leaving the diner and heading home. You guys ready?”

“We are.” Sonny’s voice crackled in her ear. “Did you get anything out of him?”

“He let something slip. I’ll tell you when I get back.”

Sage tapped her ear pod again and backed out onto Main Street.

She drove her usual route, watching Blane’s headlights behind her.

Driving down the country road that was so familiar to her now, she steeled her resolve. She turned onto the Hellraiser’s property, and the gate swung open. Slowly, she made her way up to the driveway.

She parked and stepped out of the car. Blane pulled up not ten seconds later.

“What the fuck, Sage? Where are we?” Blane yelled as he stomped up to her. “What the hell is going on?”

Sonny, Gage, and Nate stepped out of the surrounding woods with their guns drawn.

“Who the fuck are they? Sage?”

“They’re my backup. Surely you recognize a biker when you see one?”

“You’re in league with a crew?”

Sage nodded. “Strange how that turned out. I partnered with them to get to Midnight Carnage. Because I knew Padraig was involved in Rosemary’s death and I needed to confirm the truth. I just didn’t thinkyouwould be involved in all this. In our sister’s death.”

Blane’s expression went from angry to panicked.

“Let’s go for a walk,” Sonny commanded.

Gage and Nate led the way. Sonny pushed his shotgun into Blane’s side.

Everyone walked through the field to the bunker.

“Rosemary wasn’t found face down in the mud,” Sage stated as they walked.

“Excuse me?”

Sage pointed her finger in Blane’s face. “You heard me. The police confirmed that Rosemary’s body was discovered face up, lying in the grass on the embankment. I saw the pictures. No mud on her face.”

Blane’s face paled and his dark eyes narrowed. “The police must have told me. What difference does it make? ”
