Several creative ways to kill him flashed through my mind before everything went dark.

I woke slowly. My thought were groggy, strained. My head ached like my brain was thumping against my skull. The headache that started when Dad was here, was worse now.

He, Kennedy and her boyfriends hadn't stayed much past that conversation. Slade had to go to some meeting.

What happened after that? I must have lain down for a nap. I didn’t remember doing that. I also didn't remember my bed being so hard.

Beside me, someone groaned. A female groan.

What the fuck?

They protested, but I forced my eyes open. The light was dim. Barely enough to illuminate beyond a half a metre or so. Enough that I made out a small space, warmth pressed against me on three sides.

Not warmth, I realised. Bodies.

Breathing, whimpering, groaning, female bodies.

Panic started to rise. Where the hell was I?

On the fourth side of me was a wall. I managed to claw my way up until I was sitting.

The smell hit me. Sweat, urine and terror. How many of us were pressed into this small box?

The box was moving. The light in the gaps showed the world flashing by. We must be in the back of a truck.

"Where are they taking us?" I asked, hoping to get some kind of answer. Even as I said it, I knew.

One of the many pies my family had their finger in was human trafficking. It wasn't something I gave much thought to, until now.

Until I realised my sister found a way to sell me.

Hey, Lila here. Thank you for reading! Our story continues in Cruel. If you love a bonus scene in my point of view of my 'punishment' from Slade, you can get it here. Well, you can read it. I was the one who got it.
