Nash eyes lit up. “Really?”

“That’s what I was told.” Lucas might not love the stupid movies that Nash and Adam were obsessed with, but he did enjoy watching his boys.

“Cool.”

“So snack?” Lucas asked.

“Snack, Daddy!” Adam said without looking up from his coloring.

“That’s one yes?” He caressed Nash’s face. “You?”

“Maybe something small. My stomach is still upset. I’m not used to the pain meds,” Nash admitted.

“I got just what you need.” Lucas leaned over to kiss Nash’s cheek before he rose. He stopped to kiss the top of Adam’s head before going back into the kitchen.

Trick had volunteered to do some shopping for him, so Lucas didn’t have to leave Nash. Trick going to the grocery store by himself was an accomplishment and Lucas was proud of his friend.

Rocky Lake had ended up being everything he and the crew had been hoping for. After Trick’s attack in their old town, they’d never been able to walk the streets in peace again. Having the attack happen outside their previous shop? None of them could work without constantly looking over their shoulder.

Trick’s gay bashing had been pushed aside by the police and hardly investigated. It had taken all of them to keep Trick’s boyfriend and Lucas’s best friend, Mack, out of jail when the detective in charge of the case had written Trick’s attack off.

There was a time when they didn’t think Trick would ever recover or leave his bed. Even after contacting therapists and getting Trick home visits, Trick just hadn’t been healing. It wasn’t until Lucas had come across an article in a LGBTQ magazine that he felt a glimmer of hope. He’d contacted the other artists, asking if they’d be willing to move the shop. Every single person agreed. They didn’t want to live somewhere they weren’t safe.

Rocky Lake was living up to its reputation. Even though there’d been trouble with the drug cartel, it hadn’t been because of their sexual orientation. Knowing how serious that the lieutenant, Lincoln, and Nash took the threat of drugs in their new adopted city helped confirm that they were where they should be. Now that he had met Adam and Nash, Lucas couldn’t imagine settling anywhere else. He was glad to see the rest of the crew was just as happy in Rocky Lake. They’d agreed to try it for a year but now Lucas wanted to start making permanent plans.

And yes, he was thinking of more permanent plans because of Adam and Nash.

Lucas had played around in clubs before but nothing as serious as what he wanted with his boys. He’d considered himself a Daddy Dom, a caretaker and a guide, a firm hand, and a teacher. With his boys, Lucas was seeing his needs flaring back after being pushed down for so long. After pushing his dominant side down for so long, it felt natural and amazing to be himself once again.

Lucas made a quick plate with apple ginger cookies, cheese, grapes, carrots, and dip. After placing a bottle of water for him and an orange Gatorade on the tray for Nash, Lucas stared at the milk. Should he? Adam was pretty deep into his little space. What could it hurt?

He hurried back into the room he’d unpacked Adam’s belonging in and straight to the dresser. Opening the top drawer, he grabbed the bottle before heading back into the kitchen. Lucas rinsed out the bottle before he added milk.

Pleased with his little gathering, Lucas picked up the tray to return to the bedroom.

Lucas stopped at the doorway and laughed.

Nash had moved to the middle of the bed with his casted leg set on a pillow. Adam’s favorite blanking was over Nash’s chest as if Adam had tucked him in before getting to work. Legs tucked under him, paci bobbing in his mouth, Adam colored on Nash’s cast. Nash glanced up and grinned.

“Careful, baby,” Lucas said as he walked into the room. “We don’t want to hurt Nash’s leg any further.”

“I careful,” Adam said around his paci.

“It’s fine.” Nash waved a hand. “He wanted to color the cast. He said it wasn’t pretty enough for me.”

The plain white cast hadn’t really fit Nash, but Lucas hadn’t bothered worrying about it. Apparently, Adam had other plans. Setting the tray on the side table, Lucas carefully climbed in bed next to Nash, making sure not to jostle Nash’s injuries or Adam’s coloring.

Lucas opened the top of the Gatorade bottle for Nash before putting a straw in it. He passed over the drink as Nash nodded gratefully at him.

“Thanks. My mouth is dry. I hate having to take pain meds.”

“If you want to try some over-the-counter pain reliever after your snack, I had Trick pick some up for me.”

Lucas picked up the tray and set it on the mattress between him and Nash.

“That looks like a disgustingly healthy snack, Lucas,” Nash said seriously. “I’m hurt! Where’s the chocolate? Where’s the junk?

“I brought cookies,” Lucas pointed out. Sure, they were organic apple and ginger and would help with the nausea but that wasn’t the point.
