Nash would never be able to deny that request from either of his men.

Adam

Adam kept an eye on Nash napping on the couch as he continued to build the awesome new castle for his He-Man figures. Spread out on the thick carpet of the living room, yummy smells coming from the kitchen, and Nash’s soft snores made for a pretty homey night.

The weather had turned worse than expected and they’d had a last-minute rush before closing for the day. It had been busy enough that he’d ended up staying to help until they closed the doors. Lucas had even come over to help lock up as Adam had been later than expected.

Adam wasn’t used to anyone waiting on him and hadn’t even hesitated to stay late. He should have texted Lucas or Nash but honestly Adam hadn’t even thought about it. Luckily, Lucas had been more worried than angry. Adam explained and he apologized but received a soft kiss in response.

Nash was already upstairs on the living room couch, but he hadn’t been asleep. The look of relief that had flashed across his face when Adam entered the apartment had Adam feeling worse.

This was what a relationship, a true partnership, was about. Not having had a healthy upbringing, Adam wasn’t used to anyone worrying about him. One of the reasons that Adam pushed himself so hard was so he never ended up in a dump of a trailer without enough food. Or having to rely on a man who claimed to be good but was evil reincarnated. It was also why he didn’t drink.

His family, every single member, had only cared about themselves and survival for themselves. Adam had tried to take care of his younger siblings. To show them true love and acceptance, but they’d all turn on him if given the chance of rewards.

Six children.

Adam was one of six children although he had no idea where any of his siblings were. The only one who’d cared for him, his older brother, Maverick, had taken off before he’d turned eighteen. He’d joined the army and while he’d promised that he would come back for him, Adam had never seen Maverick again.

It wasn’t like he could stay after the pastor found out that Adam was gay.

Too many trips to the farm, the congregation’s ‘rehabilitation’ spot, and Adam couldn’t stomach being sent there again. He’d just graduated high school and had been working for four years so had taken the chance to escape.

His other siblings had actually been related to the pastor, so they’d been the perfect children that the pastor doted on. It was only Maverick and Adam, his mother’s first children, that suffered the wrath of their stepfather pastor.

The alcohol that his mother consumed daily kept her too drunk to worry about her children.

It still hurt Adam that Maverick hadn’t kept his promise. Had taken off and left Adam to suffer. But Adam had made his own way. With a bus ticket and all the money, he could squirrel away, Adam had started a new life. He hadn’t done too bad if he could have said so for himself. However, he did need to work on letting Lucas and Nash in better. They obviously cared about him. Just showing up every morning to do the baking spoke volumes.

Above anything else, their dedication to his safety had shown Adam their interest.

Yes, he wanted sex, he wanted to be intimate, but Adam really craved safety. Lucas and Nash gave him that feeling.

“Having fun, baby?” Lucas walked in, wiping his hands on a dish towel.

“Yeah.” Adam hadn’t gone completely little even though Lucas had told him it would be okay. He still wanted to play but it was more to give his brain a break. Adam hoped that after dinner they would all be going to the big bed like Lucas had mentioned.

“Dinner’s almost ready,” Lucas said. “Why don’t you see if you can wake Nash. Don’t let him be grumpy to you.”

“I know just how to wake him up.” With a laugh, Adam began to crawl toward the couch. Mostly because he didn’t feel like climbing to his feet and the carpet really was comfortable.

Reaching the side of the couch, Adam leaned down to brush his lips over Nash’s. He gasped as a firm hand cupped the back of his head.

Adam pulled back slightly. “You were awake.”

Nash grinned. “The smell of dinner woke my hungry stomach but then you said you knew how to wake me, so I wanted to see what you’d do.”

“What’d you think?” Adam asked.

“You should kiss me again just to make sure I’m really awake.”

Chapter Ten

Lucas

He helped Nash into the bedroom as Adam hurried ahead and turned down the covers. Dinner had been quiet with an air of anticipation thrumming among them. Lucas had made certain to tease and touch both boys as he’d served dinner and refilled glasses.
