For a while, Lucas kept to his own kind, and I kept to mine. I hated the distance between us and feared it would only grow, the closer we got to Earth.
But they needed his comfort and assurances. Genevieve was most excited of the bunch to go home, but even she listened intently as he described Thorzi, the plants and food, even the tournament. Some of the humans blanched at the idea we had fought for the right to have their children, but that did not seem so strange to me. How else would we ensure the strongest lines survived?
