“We’re just friends,” he says, and I think he’s protesting too much.

I keep my tone neutral. “I can see that.”

“Then get that look off your face,” he growls.

My expression widens with innocence. “What look?”

Camden speaks through gritted teeth, a sure sign I’m way under his skin. “As if you know a secret about me. There’s nothing to know.”

There’s something haunting within his denial and I decide to quit teasing him. Instead, I give him the best piece of advice I can render. “There’s no bro code in effect.”

Camden frowns at me. “What?”

“Mitch is dead,” I say, and he actually flinches. I ignore it. “She’s single. You’re single. There is no bro code in effect.”

I can see that does not affect Camden. He’s not buying that there’s a clear path to Danica if he’s interested. He’s not ready to make that move.

“Whatever,” he mutters.

“I’m just saying, if you had an interest—”

“I don’t.”

If there is something between them, I don’t want Camden denying it so hard that he’s forced to adhere to a stance. So I poke a little. “Sure looks like you did to me. In fact, I think it’s evident you both have a connection. Anyone in this bar could see it tonight.”

Camden’s eyes dart around us as if he’s afraid someone heard me say that, but no one’s near us and the music is loud. When his gaze comes back to me, he says, “We’re just friends.”

He doesn’t give me a chance to respond but instead walks away.

Whatever, dude. I can see there’s clearly something there.

My eyes seek out Kiera and I see she’s playing pool with a big, burly biker who’s got his eyes pinned to her ass. Blood boiling and hand clenched way too tightly around my bottle of water, I’m forced to sit back and not do a damn thing about it. That would give us away.

Just like Camden, I can’t admit to feeling a fucking thing for a woman.

I like drunkKiera. She’s silly in a way that’s not annoying, and I made the very gallant and public offer to “drive Drake’s sister home safely” to those stragglers who were left as Camden’s birthday party wound down. It was basically Boone, Kirill and Kace, three of the more established playboys, although, without a doubt, Kirill is the biggest man whore among them. He was sitting in a dark corner making out with a woman when I led Kiera from the bar.

She waved and blew kisses to those left behind. When we were on the sidewalk, she looped her arm through mine and laid her head on my shoulder, which I found sweet. Not sloppy drunk, but she’s super buzzed.

Sighing, she walks a little unsteadily as I lead her down the block to my car. “When we get to my place,” she drawls thickly, “I’m going to do the dirtiest things imaginable to you.”

Okay, sweet and completely sexy. I like this combination, too, and that region south of my belt likes her promise.

“Or,” she muses, coming to a stop and turning toward me. She tugs playfully on the waistband of my jeans. “We can slip down one of these side alleys and I can give you a quick blow job.”

She tips her head back and grins at me. Doesn’t matter if she’s serious about her offer, that’s never going to happen. Dipping my head, I kiss her on the nose. “You’re cute, but not about to have you bruise your knees just for me. I can wait for us to get to your place.”

Although truthfully, not sure anything’s going to happen tonight. My bet is on her being passed out before we get there, and I’ll probably just tuck her into bed.

“At least kiss me,” she says breathlessly. Her head falls back even more and she looks up into the sky. “It’s a beautiful night under the stars, I’m feeling fucking fantastic and I want the hottest guy I’ve ever known—who gives the best orgasms in the world—to kiss me like I’m the only woman he’s ever wanted.”

So fucking adorable, but her words move me. I think she’s laying feelings out there that otherwise would be stuffed down deep without alcohol.

What’s a guy to do? I dip my head and kiss her. My arms tighten around her lower back and her hands slide up so that her fingers can play in my hair.

A coughing sound jolts me back, although Kiera is a little slower to respond. I turn toward the bar and see Boone standing outside the door. He just saw that. By the look on his face, he heard what Kiera said too.
