She snuggled into his chest and he held her tighter. He wanted to make her feel comfortable and safe.

“Don’t let go,” she whispered.

“Never,” he replied.

As long as she wanted him to hold her, he was going to. He wanted to comfort her in her time of need.

He needed to.

Even if she had told him she didn’t need it, he was going to give it. If not for her, then for him.

The thought of her being hurt or even dead broke his heart and scared him. He didn’t like her getting hurt. It was killing him that she had gotten kidnapped and shot because of him.

“I’m here,” Angelo said. “Shit.”

Miles turned around and saw Angelo looking at Richard on the ground.

“Can you look at the girls? Make sure they are okay,” Miles asked.

“Yeah. Let's do this in the living room,” he replied.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Rogan pick up his sister before they all walked into the living room.

“Can you look her over while she’s on my lap?” Miles asked. “I don’t think she’s going to want to be far away from me.”

“That’s fine. I just need to check her stitches and anywhere she tells me it hurts,” Angelo responded.

Miles sat on the couch and turned Storm to where she was facing Angelo. She had gripped onto his arm and dug her fingers in. Thankfully she didn’t have any fingernails, but even if she did, Miles wouldn’t say anything.

He could endure a little pain to make Storm feel better.

“Can you tell me where it hurts?” Angelo said.

“None,” she responded.

Angelo looked up at Miles.

“I don’t know what happened in the room yet,” he said.

“Alright,” Angelo said, looking back at Storm. “Can I take a look at your stitches?”

She nodded her head and they both watched as Angelo carefully lifted up her shirt a tiny bit and inspected her stitches. Miles hoped nothing was wrong and they could go back on with their day.

Well, him pampering her and making sure she felt comfortable and safe.

He didn’t want her to have to go through getting restitched again.

“Her stitches all look okay. I just recommend her relaxing and not doing anything for the next several days,” Angelo said as he put Storm’s shirt down.

Miles relaxed some with the news. It was great she didn’t have to go through the pain again.

“Now, let me check you over,” Angelo said as he turned toward Hedda. “Does anywhere hurt?”

Miles looked over and watched Hedda shake her head. He was glad she didn’t get hurt, but he was still worried about her.

“I would watch the girls for any signs of shock,” Angelo said, looking at Miles and Rogan. “You know what to do and if anything feels off or wrong, contact me.”

“Thank you,” Miles said. “I really appreciate it.”
