“I’m going to have to keep a closer eye on you,” he said. “To make sure you’re healing properly, I’ll have to coddle you until you’re better to move freely without the fear of ripping your stitches.”

Storm blushed at the thought of being coddled. She had dreamed of that several times but knew she may never get it. It was hard to meet people when she was constantly getting sick. And it was even harder to find a Daddy who would want to take care of a sick Little all the time.

It was a tall order and she knew there wouldn’t be many people who would want to take that on.

Storm had accepted it.

And now Miles was here saying he was going to coddle her until she was better.

He had done it when she’d first gotten sick and taken care of her. It had been a dream come true and now he was about to do it again.

Miles lifted a spoonful of chicken noodle soup and fed it to her. She sighed happily and chewed the little bits of chicken and noodles before swallowing.

“You like the thought of that?” he asked. “Of me coddling you until you’re all better?”

Storm knew she loved the idea. What Little wouldn’t like that? But she didn’t want Miles to know. She didn’t want him to know she loved the idea of him coddling her until she was better, or even after.

She shook her head no and looked down at her hands.

“Look at Daddy,” he commanded.

Slightly tilting her head up, she looked at him.

“Daddy doesn’t like lying,” he said. “But Daddy will prove to you it’s okay to let him know what you’re thinking.”

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

STORM

Two days had passed since Storm had arrived at Miles' house. It was weird being here. It wasn’t her own house and she wasn’t super comfortable. She didn’t have anything of her own, besides her stuffed elephant, Mika.

Mika was the only thing that made her even remotely a little bit comfortable.

His house was two stories and he had confined her to the downstairs. She wasn’t even allowed to walk without him helping her up and then he basically picked her up and carried her everywhere.

Storm couldn’t deny she loved being in his arms. He was strong and held her gently but securely, like he had done it a thousand times. Jealousy had coursed through her the first time she had thought about that. She didn’t like the thought of someone else being in his arms.

Every time she thought about it, she had to tell herself she shouldn’t be thinking that way. He wasn’t hers and she didn’t need him. She shouldn’t need him right now.

But it was hard to deny it as the days went by.

He was taking care of her.

Miles was treating her like she meant the world to him.

He was showering her in love and affection and she couldn’t help but soak it in. She had been living on her own for years and missed the love and affection in her life. The only people that had ever given it to her were her parents and she hadn’t seen them in a while.

It had been a calm two days, but he had kept a watchful eye on her. Even when he wasn’t in the room, he knew what she was doing.

She didn’t know how he was doing that. Maybe it was his Daddy senses.

Or it could be cameras in the room.

She had raked her eyes around the room, trying to find out where the cameras could be, but she couldn’t see any. Maybe they were too small to see? Or maybe he didn’t have any and just knew when she was about to get up or do something she wasn’t supposed to.

Miles had been around her, but he had also been away. When she was just sitting on the couch or at the table, he would go into his office down the hall. Sometimes he would even be talking on the phone with someone in the hallway.

No doubt he was trying to find Richard while staying here with her.
