"You want me to believe you haven't texted him already?" I tsk and shake my head. "All evidence to the contrary, I'm not that gullible."

"Atlas didn't—"

"Stop, right there," I interrupt, my hand up. "I am not here to talk about Atlas."

Zeus's eyes narrow. "Then why are you here?"

"I have a business proposition for you."

If he is surprised, he does not show it.

He waves to one of the wingback chairs facing him, inviting me to take a seat.

I do so, crossing one legging clad leg over the other, placing my coat over my lap. Sliding my hand under the hem of my red tunic style sweater, I unlatch the holster and draw the gun out under the guise of adjusting the coat.

Unwilling to allow him to see my grief or even a glimmer of my nervousness, I refuse to fidget. My hold on the twenty-two secure but loose, I force my breathing to remain steady.

Taking out my phone, I show him that I'm turning it off. "I'm going to assume you have a jammer going so nothing we say here can be listened to or recorded regardless."

He inclines his head but does not answer.

"Good, I'm not interested in wading through euphemisms."

His lips tilt the tiniest bit at the corners, like he finds that amusing.

Then he's back to the serious, stoic eldest brother, crime boss persona. "If you are here to try to talk me out of the protection money—"

"That's not why I'm here."

"Whatever your reason for being here, this conversation should include Atlas."

"Why? He's not my boss. Is he yours?" I taunt.

Zeus frowns, but he doesn't take the bait. "He is your boyfriend and that makes private conversations between us problematic."

"One, he is most emphaticallynotmy boyfriend." I tick off on my finger. "Two, I'm here to offer you a business proposition, not the other kind."

Heartbreaking sex with one brother in the Rokos family is my limit.

"Glad to hear it."

Lifting my purse, I pull out the sheaf of papers I grabbed from the printer in my office before I left the club.

I lay them on his desk. "I'm here to offer you a very good deal to buy my club."

Glacial blue eyes flare with surprise that is gone quickly. I have shocked him. Good. Last night I got a shock too. We will both survive.

"Here are the terms." I push the sales contract toward him.

I am not a lawyer, but with my experience doing the paperwork for the mafia clubs as well as a template I bought off the internet for the sale of a viable business, I am confident I have my bases covered.

It offers him the club and the building it is in at a steep discount from fair market value, with one stipulation. He agrees to take over payment for Lenny's care.

Zeus reads through the document, taking his time. When he is finished, he looks up at me and there is a question in his eyes. "Who is Lenny Smith?"

He says the name Smith in a way that makes me know he is aware it's an alias. I don't care. There's nothing linking Lenny Smith to Leonardo Revello.

"Someone I am responsible for. Once I sell the club, I will not be able to continue to pay for his care long term."
