"Say it."

"I love you, Atlas. Dimios. Enforcer. All of you."

He shakes his head. "No. You cannot love me. Not after what I did to you."

"Did you have sex with me to get information out of me?" That's the idea that hurt the most.

"No. When I saw you, I wanted you like I have never wanted anyone or anything. Making love to you that night wasn't smart, but I couldn't help myself."

His words soothe the rough edges of the raw wound inside me.

"I should have left your club alone. It's my job to protect you and I cost you your dream."

"Nuovi Inizi is not my dream." It never was.

"But your little house." He shakes his head like he can't stand to think of it.

"I hope whoever buys it has the carpet in the primary bedroom cleaned. We left a stain from our lovemaking," I tease.

"That person should be you."

"No. You can't live in that house with me. I can't live there pregnant with your baby. It's not safe."

"I've turned your life upside down."

"Yes, you have, but love has a way of doing that. Didn't you know?"

"No. I have never been in love before."

"But you are now." I need to hear it again. It seems so impossible that Atlas loves me as deeply and irrevocably as I do him.

"I love you my beautiful sun. More than life. More than my family. More than theÁdis Adelfótita."

"Blasphemy." I'm teasing. A little. Part of me is deadly serious. "Nothing can come before your syndicate."

"Nothing can come before you."

Tears wash into my eyes. "You mean that."

"Yes."

"You said you would leave Portland and your brothers to be with me."

"Yes."

"But they are your family."

"You are my everything."

"You say stuff like that and it feels like there's a vice in my chest squeezing my heart."

"Good. If I have hold of your heart, I have hold of you."

"You know me so well."

"And you know me."

Done arguing truths my heart and my mind agree on, I nod. His kiss reforms my broken heart to an organ that beats only for him.
