"What if I was going to walk in front of a bus? Would you prefer he let me do it instead of grabbing me to save me?"

"You will never do something so stupid." Atlas's glower is sulfuric.

I roll my eyes. "Okay, fine. Bad example, but you know what I mean."

"If it is a matter of your safety, exceptions can be made."

"How are they supposed to know that?" I indicate the men milling around the bar where the staff is preparing for the night ahead.

There are always at least two other members of the Hades Brotherhood hanging around, sometimes more. It's for my security because they are there even when the club is closed.

I know it's about me because they follow me when I leave too. I might as well be royalty or something with my own security detail.

Tino was never this possessive, or protective. But then Tino was nothing like Atlas on so many levels.

"I don't like you punishing Bobby for trying to get my attention."

If anything, Atlas's frown gets more ferocious and it's directed toward the member of his crew.

"It's all good, Lucia. I won't forget again, boss."

I spin to face Bobby. "Don't let him off the hook like that. He should apologize."

Bobby's face contorts like he swallowed a lemon and he backs away quickly. "Yeah, no. The apology wasn’t my idea, boss."

"Ask Helios where he wants the crates. He's in charge now, not me," I call as Bobby disappears down the hall toward the office and the back door to the club.

Atlas's hands land on my shoulders. "Is that what you really want?"

This again. "I don't want to talk about the club. Atlas, you can't threaten your men for trying to get my attention. It’s not Bobby's fault my mind was elsewhere."

"Where was it?" Atlas turns me to face him, but doesn't let me go.

My hands automatically settle against his chest and I revel in the strength of his muscles and warmth of his body.

"Helios doesn't need any further training."

A tick develops in Atlas's jaw. "So? You promised Zeus thirty days."

"I'm not going anywhere, Atlas. I already told you that."

"You gave up your house and even though you have enough money to buy it outright now, you haven't talked to Elaine about renewing your offer."

"How do you know that?"

"I asked her."

Sighing, I rub my hands over his pectoral muscles. "That's a little invasive, don't you think?"

"No. You are mine."

"You say that a lot." Every time we make love and sometimes when we don't. Like now.

"Because it is true."

"I don't deny it."

"Orion thinks you want to keep a nest egg to fall back on. Is that it? I can buy the club for you, but you'll never be without resources. I'll make sure of that."
