New Year's Eve-Eve
“Hereyougo,onecoffee for my girl.” Liam passes me my drink as the earthy, sweet aroma floats around me and I hum. We’ve found a new routine that we’ve fallen into in the mornings since he pretty much lives here now. He makes coffee after giving me an orgasm or two and I can’t say I’m hating it because it sets the world right every day.
“What would I do without you?” I sigh fluttering my eyelashes at him as I rest my chin in my hand.
He smirks. “You’d probably get more sleep without me, but have a lot less fun.”
“Morning, lovebirds,” Nora sings as she walks around the kitchen island, grabbing her morning coffee that Liam makes her too.
“You’re awfully chirpy today. That wouldn’t have anything to do with a guy, would it?” I sip my coffee, raising a brow over my mug.
She meets my stare. “I’m just in a good mood. My best friends are here. It's my last day of work today for the year. It’s New Year’s Eve tomorrow, my favourite time of year.” She shoots a look to Liam that I can’t figure out but immediately flicks her attentions back to me. “There’s a lot to be happy about.”
Just as I’m about to ask what that was passing between Nora and Liam, his phone cuts through my plan. As he swipes his screen to answer it, he quickly pecks my temple. “G-man, what’s up?”
I narrow my eyes as I watch him walk away, then suddenly I’m appreciating how he looks in his chino suit trousers and white shirt.Ooof that man does things to me.
Nora snaps her fingers in front of my face. “Earth to Jess.”
“Sorry, it’s hard to pay attention when he…” I shake my head. “What did you say?”
“Just that you guys seem good. Is it after New Years weekend that Liam is actually moving in?”
I nod my head. “Yeah, and you’re sure you don’t mind? It’s temporary until we can find something together that’s close by.”
Nora smiles. “I’m happy if you are. Stay here as long as you need. I just need to invest in earplugs.”
“We won’t… I mean, we’ll be quiet.” I bury my face in my hands as heat creeps into my cheeks.
“Oh please, you do you, honey. I’ll get you back one day.”
Three loud knocks at the door has both of our heads snapping up as Liam comes back into the kitchen and places his phone on the kitchen table. “That’s Grayson, he’s giving me a ride to our first meeting today, but I told him to come in for a coffee first, if that’s okay?” He strides over to me, placing a kiss on my head as he reaches me.
“Yeah, sure.” I smile.
Liam disappears around the corner just as Nora leans into whisper, “Grayson, how do I…?” her eyes widen. “Ohhh right. Flirty playboy, Grayson. I remember.”
I nod my head, sipping my coffee. “The one and only.”
Nora’s eyes roll just as Grayson comes into the kitchen. His all-black suit is tailored to perfection and his black hair is wavy and still damp from his shower.
“You remember Jess and Nora?” Liam gestures to us, and Grayson’s lips twitch devilishly.
