Mark pointed behind them to where a single headlight shone. “You better hurry, he’s just getting ready to leave.”

Without a word she took off running towards the motorcycle calling out his name then stopped as he pulled away.He probably didn’t hear me,she told herself, or he was ignoring her because he didn’t want anything to do with her. Despite saving her, she had her suspicions that he secretly despised her...

Chapter 5

Desi was excited whenshe awoke in the morning. Not only was it her day off, not that she really did any work at the inn so far, but she found a handwritten note slipped under her door, telling her to meet Ava at the spa at 10 am sharp.

She didn’t even wait for the water to warm up before hopping into the shower. Howling as the cold water cascaded onto her head and body, she quickly lathered up and rinsed off before the water even got warm. Slipping on her robe, she wrapped a towel around her head and went to check the time on her phone. She had a half hour to get dressed, grab something to eat and haul her butt over to the spa. Tossing her cellphone onto the bed, she spun around and started going through her clothes.

ABBI STARTED PACINGback and forth in the kitchen then stopped, waving a sheet of paper in her hand, she looked at the ceiling. “You’re joking right? What the hell are we going to do, Ben?!”

He was smart enough to not say a word until she was done. Mark on the other hand, leaned against the counter and bit the apple he was holding, then said, “It’s no big deal, Abbi.”

Ben visibly flinched then started chuckling.

Abbi whipped her head around to look at Mark. “What do you mean it’s not a big deal? Twenty more of his family members are coming from England. Where are they going to sleep?! The inn is full, there are no empty houses in the village and the cabins are all booked full of tourists! And if that’s not bad enough, they are starting to come in four days!” She pulled a chair out from the table and sat down with a thud. “I guess we could pitch a few tents and hope like hell a storm doesn’t blow them away.”

“See, now that’s a good idea,” Mark smiled between bites.

Abbi raised her eyes to him, “I was being sarcastic.”

“Oh... okay then.”

“Love, I’ll call my mum and tell her there just isn’t enough room.” He pulled his phone from his pocket and said, “She will understand.”

“Don’t you dare. That would be so humiliating for her.” Abbi sighed, “We will figure it out.”

Lane walked into the room and looked at everyone, “What’s going on?” He could tell something was up the second he stepped in.

Ben grabbed a cup from the cupboard, “Want a cup of coffee, Lane?”

“Sure,” he said, sitting at the table with his mom.

Ben took another cup down and said, “There are too many people coming to the wedding. We have no idea where to put them.”
