And there, with the sounds of our family in the air, from the kids' giggles to my grandmother ordering everyone around, we enjoy a bowl of potato salad.

“Perfectly imperfect,” she murmurs.

“What?”

“It was one of the things my grandmother always said. She would say perfection is boring. Striving for it was important, but you should never feel you failed when you didn’t reach it. It’s in the imperfections that we find happiness.”

I kiss her forehead as I feel my heart turn over once again.

“Well, then, you’re my imperfect love.”

I couldn’t ask for anything more perfect than that.

Three Months Later

Ithrust into Avery one last time as she shouts my name. The sound of my name on her lips pulls my orgasm from me. Her inner muscles spasm about my cock as I pour myself into her. A moment later, I collapse on the bed beside her.

Our heavy breathing is the only sound in the room.

“That is our fifteenth time while in Hawaii,” Avery says with a laugh.

I look over and find her smiling at me. We’ve been here for about four days. “You’re keeping count?”

She nods, then rises up to her elbow. The sun is rising just behind her. The sweet smell of Hawaiian air fills the room as the breeze plays with the white sheer curtains.

“I guess we should go out and see some of the island,” she says.

“Yes. Kauai is gorgeous, and there are a lot of chickens. I knew you would love that.”

“I do.”

“But we have two more weeks here.”

My life has changed so much in the last three months. I sold my company to Trevor, but I’m still a minority stockholder and consult on some security issues. I moved most of my belongings to Juniper since Avery, and I moved into the house together. I kept the house in Dallas, so we had a place to stay when we visited Mom and Ted.

“Dr. Gina would be so proud of me,” Avery says.

Avery started therapy a couple months ago. Dr. Gina has helped her deal with some of her depression, which has helped with Avery’s insomnia.

“She would. You passed out the minute we hit the bed.”

“The second time we hit the bed.”

I smile at her. I can’t help it. We had a fantastic time breaking in the kitchen table, the bathroom counter, and the shower before we fell into bed. I will never have enough of this woman.

“I love you.”

Her eyes soften. “I love you too.”

“Marry me.”

Her eyes widen. “Say what now?”

“I know it’s only been a few months, but I want to marry you. I want to have babies with you, and I want to adopt more cats.”
