“So what if we wanted to get married someday? Or have kids? You want to just keep hiding that?”

I could tell from the look on Dylan’s face I shouldn’t have said that. His eyes got wide, and his jaw suddenly stopped chewing.

“No, I mean—just, like, way in the future. Or never. You know what? Forget I said anything.”

“Grace, stop.”

“I’m sorry, that was a dumb thing to say.”

“No, it wasn’t.”

“It wasn’t?”

Dylan shook his head, but didn’t say a word. I waited and waited for him to say something, but silence was filling the room. My mind was racing a hundred miles a minute, but my mouth was unable to form any words. He leaned forward and kissed me gently on the cheek.

“It wasn’t a dumb thing to say. I have thought about those things, too.”

“You have?” I asked, unable to hide the shock in my voice.

“Of course. I want to get married someday. I want to have a family. I want all of that. It’s only natural to think about all of those things happening with the woman I am in love with.”

I let out a long sigh of relief. I wasn’t sure who the man in front of me was, but he certainly wasn’t the arrogant rockstar I had once thought him to be.

“But, we’re not there yet, so I don’t think we need to worry about that. At least not right now,” he said.

“Right.”

“So, as I was saying, if we keep things secret, thenwe can come to Ella and tell her everything. You know, once we have been together for a while, and once we are certain that we want a future together.”

“And you think that will go over well?”

“No idea. But it’s the only idea I have. Do you have anything better?”

I pushed around the food that was left on my plate and pondered his question. He was right. The only way to make this work was to tell Ella the truth after it had been a significant amount of time. Then she would at least know we were serious about each other.

“Don’t you think she’ll be pissed that we didn’t tell her sooner?”

“Maybe, but that seems like a problem for future Dylan and future Grace. We don’t have to worry about them.”

I laughed and leaned forward to kiss him.

“You make a good point.”

Dylan came around to my side of the table and scooped me up into his arms without any warning. I let out a small squeak of protest as he spun me around the room, but I couldn’t keep the laughter inside.

“I missed you,” he said with a deep groan as he kissed my lips.

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“Go on and show me how much, then.”

A devilish grin crossed his face as he dropped me to my feet and pressed me up against the wall. His hands pinned mine to the wall as his lips began to explore my body. He tasted every inch of visible skin, and when he had finished with that, he started to slowly undress me and taste the skin beneath my clothes.

“You,” he said with a kiss on my neck, “are so,” a bite on my shoulder, “delicious,” a lick down the center of my chest.

I wiggled with delight and anticipation as he reached the top of my jeans. He crouched down on his knees and started undoing them, with painful slowness.
